What won't Chad Ochocinco do?
Ochocinco draws inspiration from owner, eyes snake wrangling
If nothing else, Chad Ochocinco has proved this offseason he's up for any challenge.
And while soccer tryouts were cute, and bull riding was brave, Ochocinco's latest plan might qualify as downright crazy.
"I've partnered with Snake Jungle to go out and become the first black #SnakeWrangler," Ochocinco tweeted on Wednesday. "Thanks to my owner Mike Brown for the great idea."
The wideout is referring to Bengals owner Mike Brown, who offered his opinion on Ochocinco's colorful offseason in an interview on Tuesday.
"He's going to do the things he does. Next maybe he'll be a snake wrangler and we'll watch to see if he gets bit," Brown said at the NFL Spring Meeting in Indianapolis. "He's always up to some stunt. They amuse me in a way."
Brown's off-handed riff turned into inspiration for Ochocinco, whose apparently looking for any way to pass the time during the longest work stoppage in NFL history.
"I'm going to be a #SnakeWrangler, I got the awesome idea from my owner, catching a Black Mamba and a King Cobra #EPIC," Ochocinco went on. "Does anyone know these snakes I'm gonna catch, Taipan, Blue Krait, Eastern Brown Snake, Rattle Snake and the Death Adder."
It remains to be seen if Ochocinco is serious or simply exhibiting online courage, 140 characters at a time. His track record makes going through with it a genuine possibility.
"Chad has a genius for bringing notice to himself," Brown said Tuesday.
You have to wonder if "genius" is still a word the owner would use in light of Ochocinco's latest plan.

So that's football tryouts, bull riding and now potentially snake wrangling, what won't this guy do to either earn more money or make himself more famous?

In what way hasn't he been an elite WR?
Winning a playoff game, takes more than one player to do that.

Sorry, I'm with GSC, I think when Ocho retires there'll always be an element of 'unfulfilled potential'.
Sure he has talent, huge talent, not sure he's always used it.
But I do make his owner spot on, the guy is a genius at self publicity....

I'm not saying he's done as well as he could have done in his career, but he's had 7 of 10 seasons over 1,000 yards. Plenty of Bengals franchise records, 6th NFL player to go over 10,000 yards for one franchise, 30th to get 700 receptions.

Chad was elite when he was Johnson, the whole Ocho thing has taken something away from that.
Opposing players and coaches always speak highly of him and he was still drawing the coverage before T.O last year.

I think Virgil may be right (great name BTW, same as my fav restaurant in NYC), before the whole Ocho thing he was a footballer foremost and respected as such, yes he had his brushes with authorities and was seen as someone with character and attitude, but he was essentially a great player.
Over the past 2/3 years he just seems to have become a huge circus.

I'm maybe sensing a pattern between this and the "Excessive Celebration" rule.

Re: What won't Chad Ochocinco do?
The game that stands out for me was the wild card game v Jets 2 seasons ago, true Revis was immense that night but Ocho looked completely uninterested, his body language was all wrong IMO.
I think I'm right in saying that he didn't catch a ball until inside the 2 min warning (4th quarter) having dropped a couple and been snuffed out all game., and this came after he was unsurprisingly vocal about what he was going to do to Revis and how much better the Bungals were than the Jets etc etc etc.
Last few years, too much noise not enough output IMO

Grizzly: The Jets trash talk everyone, and it's not a surprise Ochocinco would bite back.

Re: What won't Chad Ochocinco do?
"I just one-upped (Brown): I am going to wrestle alligators," Ochocinco said. "Don't laugh, like I am serious and you'll see it. And I am living life.
"In Okeechobee (Fla.), I am wrestling alligators. Actually, catching them in the wild. Which is going to be really interesting, I am catching them in the wild. I forgot the individual's name who is going with me, who does it for a living. It's pretty dangerous, I could lose an arm, lose a leg, you know ... so was bull riding. So the chance of me getting hurt on the bull is similar to the chance as me winning the lottery, slim to none. And the same thing with alligators. If he bites me, I can still play with one arm. (Because) I can kick, seriously."

Surely he can't be serious?
