Well that sounded like a real struggle for Fed. The pair had not met before but few would have reckoned it would be such a battle.

I caught most of it due to a day off. It was a close match but the quality was pretty high, not many errors from Fed on either wing and he seemed assured enough. I thought Gimeno-Traver played a solid match, kept things tight and scrambled very well. He likely would've beaten an 'off day' Federer.

I liked the RG Federer v Schwartzman match quite a bit. The young man played very well, despite the scoreline. Old Man is getting his practice before he goes to Madrid, and perhaps meets Nadal. I also have a soft corner for Schwartzman, because I see a bit of Ferrer the Terrier in him.

Looking forward to Goffin v Gulbis as well.

I like him too LF. Hits the ball so well for a man of such stature. He was the top dog on the Challenger tour last year as well, so it's great to see him making further progress this year.

Good practice run for him as a prelude to RG is another viewpoint. After his struggles with DGT, he does have his work cut out.

Vis-a-vis Murray, is his honeymoon with Kim over yet? Seriously though, if Federer does end up playing Murray in final after getting through your list, it would be a relatively easy match.

Federer lost first 6-2 convincingly but is 3-1 up in the second. Schwartzman fighting well but is under pressure on his service games in this set. Hoping he can make a good fist of it, it'd be great to see him make his first final.
