Heh - after winning that 56 Cleveland wedge from GolfLive, it's completely messed my bag up. I've ditched the 54 and 58 and so am left with a big gap to the 50.

I do like the 56, though, so I may have to get another two or three new wedges (52 and 60, perhaps).

To answer the question.

R7 Superquad
Titliest 904F2
Mizuno MP Flihi
Nike Forged Blades 3 - PW
Vokey 54-10
Miura 1957 C-Grind 57 bent to 58
SC Newport Beach... except the flowery pink grip is now gone. It was a bit girlie. So now it's a purple flowery grip. Much more manly

I've seen a few of these threads over on the old place and people rarely seem to comment on the contents of other peoples' bags. Seems they are only interested in posting their own setup. I sometimes wonder why people bother

For the record I have

King Cobra S9-1 Driver
Mizuno 3 and 5 wood (the 5 wood was 2nd hand and has steel shaft rather than the graphite of the 3 wood)
3-9, PW and SW Nicklaus N1 irons
John Letters Putter

has anyone test driven the current titleist mb blades? my pro seems to think titleist will bring out a new model [and range] for 2012, but i wonder how the fila takeover might affect that?

ban bam

Two of my regular playing partners have them, absolutely beautiful looking sticks. I've hit them, lot more forgiving than you'd expect for a pure players blade.

If my striking was a bit more consistent, I'd get a set myself.

i'm sure i'm probably being naive, but is there really 'that' much of a difference between a poor strike with a blade and a cavity? i've currently got a set of the old titleist 990 muscle back cast irons, which are apparently very unforgiving, but i get on pretty well with them. i don't really believe changing to something like the ap2's would really make that much of a difference to my scoring, but having only hit literally 3 shots with a blade in my life, i really enjoyed the feel i got from the contact. to be honest, if i make a switch i'd be hoping for a club which 'made' me improve my ball striking and rewarded me with that feeling i got off those 3 shots, rather than a club which fooled me that my bad strikes were good uns... does that make sense?

Ban_Bam... yes there is. A slight mishit off the toe on a cavity will still give you good yardage and direction. As well as the clubhead not twisting so much through impact and as such reducing the sidespin imparted as a result. On a blade missing the centre of gravity will result in a greatly reduced yardage and accuracy (typically).

That's not to say that fatting a cavity and a blade won't produce the same results. Of course they will... but a blade is generally not quite so forgiving on those ones you only just miss.

Blades will also give a lower ball flight than a comparable cavity. Which is why you'll find most blades have higher lofts than the same iron in a cavity.

As for the Titleists. I wouldn't now they have gone to Fila. I expect them to go rapidly downhill... hence why my 58 degree vokey is not being replaced with a similar wedge. It's off to a top notch maker for me with the Miura. And I also think there are better blades than the titleist on the market. The VR Pro from Nike or the Mizuno offerings. But if you want the very best. Miura is the only way to go... The 1957 is an experiment for me. If that works they way it feels it might it will be the 54 next... and then maybe a full set of the Miura blades going in there.

yikes, i'd be on the moon if i played with cavities then.

i'll stick my neck out and say that blades do in fact make you a better ball striker. the reason? i've played with them all my golfing life (30+yrs) and somehow manage to maintain an 11/ 12 handicap despite playing an average of about or less than 1 round / month.

This the reason I just picked up a set of Orka PS9 blades on ebay for a total snip (£155), they are in immaculate condition, with spined DGS300 shafts and nice multi compound grips. The seller was sick at the price they went for but ebay baragin hunters just don't know their forged blades it would seem. I have always been a bit of a scooper and using these I am working really hard to strike down and through my shots.

Move your hands ahead of the ball at address. That will help in striking down on the ball if you keep your wrist nice and firm through impact.

Cheers, I am working on trying to keep my left wrist straight until it's about a foot past the ball. I am hitting the ball much straighter with these irons, but I am attributing that to the weight fo the shafts. I am swinging with a much smoother tempo, the only thing I need to watch is distance control due to not quite getting it out of the sweet spot. This should come with practice though.

Afternoon all!

Ping Rapture driver
Cleveland HiBore 3W
Mizuno Fli Hi 2, 3, 4
Mizuno MP-62 5-PW
Mizuno MP T-11 52, 58
Ping Redwood Anser

If anything the driver could be next for an upgrade, I don't think the shaft is right for my, ball flight is very high, but I don't play a long course so it will do for now.

X14 pro's were an awesome set of irons. I had them when I was about 13/14 but then traded them in for some forged mizunos.

D4S find your wedge combo odd, large gap in the yardages with those, take it for use purely around the greens as the difference between a 53 and 60 is quite vast

I tend to use the 60 for bunkers and flop type shots, anything else I use the 53 and just improvise on the length of swing. Until recently, never had a problem but as you can see from my chipping thread, it's all gone a bit Pete Tong lately!

Wilson Staff Spine

Nicklaus Claw 3 Wood

Mizuno FliHi 18 degree rescue.

Taylor Made R7 Draw Irons 4-SW

Wilson Deep Red 2 Putter.

I don't carry wedges because when I first started playing the most lofted club I had was a pitching wedge so I play all my chip shots with that.

I love it goldie, can sha[e the ball and control the flight with it perfectly and its seriously long. Sits wonderfully behind the ball to. One tip is though I wouldn't go with the stock shaft feels a little dead. I got a X Stiff Aldila Rip in mine.

I would seriously recommend this as the best driver out there at the moment but then i'm biased

I'm an awkward b@stard that stands the wrong side of the ball:

Cobra S-91 Driver
TM Burner 15deg 3 Wood
TM Burner Superfast 18deg hybrid
Nicklaus Claw 21deg
Cobra Baffler 26deg

Ping G15 5 --> 8 iron, then PW, GW, SI

Ping Karsten putter

Assorted wet weather gear, wind tops, markers and rules book (which is useless cos it takes too long to access the rule you want).
