no magic inning in the farewell series......no fairy tale end......that takes away nothing from the career that was amazing.....averaging 58 over 12,000 test runs and 130 tests......double and triple hundreds....and a frontline WK for a part of his career

an inspirational figure for Lankan cricket...their greatest...and an unambiguous great in the era he played in clap clap clap

a satisfying career in every way

I really do hope he reconsiders for the third Test if Lanka lose.

Agreed. This was a bit of a flat finish.

But he won't.

I know it doesn't remotely compare with his stellar test match career, but it would be nice if Sanga scored a century, maybe in Surrey's next cc match, to get them promotion back to Div 1. He's massively well respected by the players at the Oval. Very Happy

The greatest batsman of our generation, been a pleasure to watch Kumar - truly the end of an era.

For me, Don Bradman was the ultimate batsman. He scored a century once in every three innings. If you truly consider yourself to be a world-class batsman, you should be able to do that. Kumar did well, don’t get me wrong.
His 192 in a losing cause against Australia in Hobart always gets talked about a lot. It was my favourite knock. It was alright.

Yeah I saw it. I particularly like the 192 quote. You can almost see him going from "My son played really well that day" to "Now that I think about, he did play and miss at two balls = failure"
