Fiji have a shocking lack of discipline.
England assured, as long they don't get dragged into a street fight.

I can see a few Fiji cards throughout this tourney.

donglewood - you've made your point, but it is going to become incredibly tiresome if you do so every time England get a penalty.

Re: England v Fiji, 18 September
Not the start I expected. When Fiji played Canada they faded after the first 30 in particular so I expected them to be much more effective in the first period here.

Exceptional hands by Joseph, twice in a row. Honestly he is a revelation in that England midfield.

Re: England v Fiji, 18 September
Just to be clear, what Wood did there was illegal, he can't leave the lineout area until the ball has travelled beyond 15m. Should have been a Fijian penalty.

it was a penalty though?
Not a penalty. The rolling maul was truck and trailer, and suddenly a penalty try and yellow card? Just ridiculous.
look like offsides already before even that to be honest.
England are at the moment dominating them so it's hardly unfair.

Re: England v Fiji, 18 September
I am not having a go at England but they are getting more than the rub of the green here with the referee's decisions. First try was T&T ans second one Wood left the lineout area early. Both Fiji penalties in my mind.
That said, Fiji look very disjointed and I am very afraid that they may get overly frustrated and resort to the Fiji of old when they tried to physically hurt the opposition.

well he dropped it but he did a great job of turning a lost scrum into a brilliant attack. Brown saved that.

Can the ref go back to the TMO if he's already allowed the try?

They don't show controversial replays on the big screen in football. Maybe a little be cheeky by those in control.Notch wrote:Oooooh. The big screen may be his undoing...

Would that replay angle have been shown if England had just scored that try and were lining up a conversion? The big screen should never come into play.

Correct decision but I was certain the ref awarded the try. Can he change his mind like that and go to the TMO after awarding a try?
Gutted for Fiji as that would have been a superb individual try.

I remember seeing Clancy go back to check whether a try was scored in the last play of the game, after he had blown the final whistle...
And that is a try, and that is deserved.

Englands scrum is very poor. cannot see how they can progress in this tourney too far with such poor scrummaging.
surely Wales and Aussie have to have a big edge there.

It wasn't like they showed a replay. It was like they showed an un-requested TMO, if that makes sense. Or did the referee request it?

Well I can tell you who the real star of the World Cup is so far, it's the TMO. I very much preferred it when they could only check the grounding of the ball.

Re: England v Fiji, 18 September
All we want is consistency, but that means that EVERY try for EVERY team in EVERY game not only needs to be replayed on the big screen but needs to be show the grounding from every angle like the Fiji disallowed one. Will it happen? I hope it doesn't or it will ruin the game. But that would be consistency.
