Following on from rituals.
This ones aimed for all the players amongst us. (And no, no I don't mean in the social sense!)
Do any of you have any rituals that you go through before taking to the field?
I personally, before running in to bowl at the opening of my spell, would swap my sweat band over, lord knows why. I also use to walk out to bat, making sure my bat was always in my right hand, again, lord knows why, but the results were always usually successful as a result.
What about you guys?

Always step onto the field left foot first at the beginning of each innings.
When padding up the Helmet has to go on before the box, and the left glove before the right glove.

My box went in before the gloves...purely for difficulty getting it in once they were on!

Re: Following on from rituals.
I had a few rituals when I newst to play. When I came out to bat I would side-step 5 seconds to the right and 5 seconds to the left.
Before I would bowl I would jump up 3 times followed by stretching my arms at the start of every over.

I havn't played in a while but when I bowled I always span the ball in my left hand with my thumb.

Re: Following on from rituals.
I used to stuff the entire ball into my mouth before each over to ensure it was nice and moist. However, I got banned from doing it once after an opposing fielder dropped the ball due to it's slippyness. I still protest that he just misjudged the flight of the ball, but the umpire suggested otherwise. Since this, I have not once played a competitive game of cricket, as the event has truly traumatised me and of fear that my bowling may not be as accurate without my ritual in place.

don't really have one tbh, not really a ritual but i like being #1 in the order rather than say 2 even if i am opening either way i just like to take the first ball.
Suppose i like having some throw downs, i have started doing it recently and feel more relaxed at the start of my innings as a result.

I never really had any that i am aware of but a team mate of mine used to hum the theme to 'The Thunderbirds' on his way out to the middle.

Thunderbirds? Brilliant.
One of my old team mates used to sit in the dressing room and listen to James Blunt on his ipod until it was time for him to go out.
His reasoning?
"It chills me out!"
I'm still dubious!

I always used to walk over the boandary rope with my laces untied when going out to field, stopping just the other side to tie them.
