Queens Day 4 Empty Queens Day 4

Post by legendkillar Thu 9 Jun 2011 - 12:41

Good afternoon tennis fans. Today's bill includes some British interest

Murray v Tipsarevic
Ward v Querry
Roddick v Anderson
Nadal v Stepanek
Verdassco v Nalbandian
Del Potro v Simon or Mannarino
Tsonga v Llodra
Cillic v Bellucci

I wish I was there as the line up is strong. Some potential cracking matches. The surface will favour a Stepanek or Llodra. Be interesting to see how Nadal and Tsonga nulify those threats.

Weatherwise there seems to be some clouds out there. Hopefully nothing to menacing.

On serve now, Murray 5-4 up but off for rain.

Odd because we're in bright sunshine just outside the M25.

I can't wait for the cricket DH!!

I had bet in the ashes that England would win 3-1. Paid dividends.

Great stuff from Murray. Shall be interesting to see how his side of the draw shapes up.

Just an observation. Back on the old 606 I had an arguement about surfaces as someone suggested that Nadal would struggle on fast courts. To me he looks even more threatening on faster courts by his queens displays this week.

Del Potro and Mannarino going to tiebreak.

I know LK, I actually think he likes fast surfaces and its another of those fallacies put out about him that he cant play on them. He has won Queen's before after all, won an Indoor Masters title and been in 4 SW19 finals. Not bad for a lad who learnt to play on windy Mallorcan clay courts...
He's had break points in just about every Stepanek game and broke him 3 times so far - and Stepanek is supposed to be a very good fast court player.

Del Potro is out! Mannarino wins in 2.

Lydian I agree. Stepanek I thought would be a threat because of the serve and volley which is good on the queens surface and he has managed to drop a few half volleys and still look commanding.

I didnt hear him say slower than RG but heard him say they were slower than normal. The serves still look like they come skidding through though so I'd be amazed if they were actually slower than RG. But they are definitely playing slower.

You never know too, Queens may have made them slower on purpose, but never admit it, to encourage ralleys as its probably the fastest surface on tour and some matches are often still a serve-fest there.

What's going on here with Rafa by the way...weird.

yummy censored

They were playing slower because the grass had dried out on the baseline and coupled with the wet weather would slow the balls down considerably.

Maybe just maybe, if Ward pulls out another shock he could face Mannarino in the next round which just slightly opens the door for a potential beginning for this young man.

Quite sensational scenes here at Queens. Querrey looks finished and umpire calls bad light to stop play. Controversial stuff.

yummy it is somewhat if a farce as play can continue up until 9:10. Querrey was asking for time and I am sure he would've shaken hands had the 3rd set commenced.

Ward/Querrey v Mannarino

This is intriguing to say the least.

Surely Rafa's going to be cream-crackered tomorrow with doubles tonight as well...I think he'll be getting a spot of fishing in a small mallorcan harbour planned for the weekend....

He looked like he was heading for the Mallorcan harbour after losing the second set to Stepanek.

But must of woken up as he took the third relatively easily.

Depends if he can dispose of Tsonga quickly today as to being OK for the semis.

Morning everyone. For some reason I am having problems opening the OOP from the website. I know the order of play from above (thanks!) but can someone let me know what time they start. Assume it's a little earlier than usual (or maybe not?), but also see the weather forecast for UK looks pretty grim Crying or Very sad
