I saw that he hit three tee shots and was then penalised for playing the wrong ball. Apparently the official with the group wasn't sure how many strokes he'd taken, so not surprising if there had to be an audit!

Bill Rogers at least chose to call it a day and exit stage left with good grace, never to return. (Still a good player in charity-type gigs though.)
Duval can't seem to make up his mind what he's doing - not much longer now for Kaymer to hang around, but he must be seething at Duval's abject performance.

Course looks amazing.

Crazy start for Rory but, as they say, if you are going to get behind do it early.

Rory has lost the ability to concentrate to the levels needed to beat players like Koepka.

Easy statement to make and difficult to rebut but I’m not so sure. It seems like he has put stupid amounts of pressure on himself despite anything he might be saying.

A good hour with the shrink tonight, a tweak to the driver swing and he’ll go out and shoot 3-4 under tomorrow and make the cut.

Absolutely nothing to suggest the Koepkas etc will be totally immune to the odd brain fart hole.

Whoa -- we're talking about one of the most accomplished golfers of his era. One bad round does not a career define. Mikelson and Scott had similar outings today.

I very much doubt it, can't imagine where it would be.
But, if you can find an ESPN radio Station (they're everywhere), there'll be regular & frequent updates.

The word "overrated" is used way to much in the modern era, but to me, Rory is the perfect example of an overrated player - by its true definition.

No he's not awful - can be extremely talented - but the hype surrounding him is way out of proportion to what he delivers. Possibly the most overrated player in world golf

Rory is supposedly is his prime at 30.
Mickelson is nearly 50 years old and way past his prime
Scott has a solitary major and isn’t in the same class

The way I see this is that it isn't just one round but the culmination of 5 years of major woe. He hasn't coped well at the masters since the grand slam was on and has now crumbled when playing well would have meant more to him than ever before.

Unfortunately Davies assertion that he is overrated could be right, at least based on Rory's last half decade of play. What came before that was unreal.

At one point I don’t think he was overrated, beginning to think he may be now though, not because of today, as others say one bad round does not a career define.
It’s hard to say somebody with that much talent is overrated...where it becomes relevant is his headspace. I do get the impression he has put way way too much expectation on himself (even if the early majors justified it). I think he now has to mentally reinvent himself. To compare him and Michelson is a bit of a conundrum as Mickleson won most if not all his majors post 30.

Thanks Kwini, the PGA station on SiriusXM is streaming the Open Radio coverage so that will explain why it isn't available via the Open app over here.
I've got TalkSport2 on which isn't geo-restricted like 5Live is.

Looking forward to the weekend when I can get watching the coverage.

Commentators agreeing with Supers earlier post that Tiger might be carrying an injury or his back is “tight”. They are wondering if he’ll give up or not appear tomorrow.

I can't get my head round how rory is overrated. His career? Just at the current moment, in that he shouldn't be a favourite, even though he is number 3 in the world?

Now, his career may have peaked at 4 majors and some wgc wins. But his career is still better then almost everyone who has played pro golf.

If he doesn't win another major, has he underachieved? He cant underachieve and be overrated.

My views, is players are hitting heights earlier, and therefore falling away earlier.

He was Poopie today though.

This is the worst I have seen Golf Channel and NBC. It's been terrible.
