"A charity cycle team made up of a host of rugby legends is cycling over 500 miles between BT Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh and the Principality Stadium in Cardiff in just 48 hours for Doddie’s Weir’s MND charity, My Name’5 Doddie Foundation.

The ride is led by Doddie’s former Scotland and British & Irish Lions teammate Rob Wainwright and will be staged from 10th-12th February 2022 to deliver the match ball for the Doddie Weir Cup.

Setting off on February 10, the Doddie Cup 500, includes international rugby players and endurance cyclists, such as world record holder, Mark Beaumont amongst the 100-strong peloton of riders.

The participants will pedal for 48 hours, arriving in time to deliver the match ball for kick-off at the Scotland vs Wales match on February 12."

Participating ex-players taking part include Rob Wainwright, Martin Johnson, Alix Popham, Dean Ryan, Carl Hogg, Mike Teague, Colin Charvis and Iwan Tukalo. It's great to see the rugby fraternity all keeping in touch and doing what they can.

Doddie and MND Empty Re: Doddie and MND

A few years ago, spring 2019 if I recall right, I attended a fund raiser for Dodie at the New York Athletic Club in Manhattan.  Speakers included Guscott, Simon Shaw, and Alex Corbisiero, as well as Dodie.  Dodie, who is a truly engaging speaker, still looked fine as the disease was in it's earlier stages.

MND is purely evil.  Not just because of what it does but because it's victims are completely aware of what is happening and, worse, what is coming at them.  It is a brave person who can face it down and brass it out, so to speak.  And Dodie was doing it with courage and class (and the occasional off-colour joke).  And doing it so the next generation of victims have a better chance.  Glad to see the Rugby community is still keeping the faith with him.

Thanks for sharing.
