Galthie got his jotters from Montpellier when their form fell off a cliff. This was precipitated by a long injury layoff for their Georgian collosus Marmouke Gorgodze shortly followed by a long term injury to Francois Trinduc.
With their best forward missing and talismanic 10 absent the team fell apart with Galthie rumoured to have lost the dressing room.
France are currently missing 6 regulars: Dupont, Ntamack, Wardi, Aldritt, Flament and Willemse.
The first 5 will definitely be back for next season and if Galthie can make selection changes to his bench props they might be able to rediscover something like their pre WC form.
Also think the three new coaches ( forwards,  attack and conditioning are not doing a great job, yet.)
The question is will the FFR hold their nose and just put up with the poor performances and results until Dupont and the others return or will he get the heave ho for the second time in his managerial career?

Failure at the home world cup followed up by a disastrous 6N campaign so far is going to be piling the pressure on him. Any slip ups against Wales or England is likely to see the knives come out from the media. It might be that he sacrifices one of his assistants to buy himself time.

Thinking about it they are really really lucky not to be zero from 3 at the moment ...

The FFR are in a difficult financial position which means a level of patience if he has 2-3 years left, but even so, Galthie has taken France forward from a basket case to a top five team.

He has credit in the bank and has the context of missing his key playmakers and his starting locks. Poor home World Cup on the surface but they got knocked out by a point to South Africa (who won it) without Ntamack in an absolute thriller.

I fully expect France to beat Wales and England, and come second (undeservedly considering how lucky they have been). If they lost both, maybe there would be some questions but he will make it to the next Six Nations in a hot seat.

The next two games will be tough for him. I don't think Flament is due to return from injury. No Ntamack or Jalibert. Dupont won't be back from the Sevens tour and Danty is likely to be suspended for at least the Wales game.

It might not be the worst thing for the misfiring team to have a bit of a reshuffle in personnel. Hastoy or Gibert would love a chance at the 10 shirt, they are both in their prime years and playing regularly for big French sides. There's a couple of very promising centres from last year's under 20s. Could be a shot in the arm for them.

Tuilagi and Woki dropped. Yikes. Its reminiscent of Gullit dropping Shearer.

Strange to release this pair back to their clubs, given that they performed well in the last couple of games.

After all, if it hadn't been for Tuilagi's huge right forearm blocking the camera then Scotland get the try and win the game.

Meafou and Flament would probably have been the first choice pairing, barring injury, so perhaps will be starting now they are available?

Tuilagi is a wrecking ball but a relatively short one at just over 6 4. Meafou is a faster wrecking ball and a genuine middle lineout operator at 6 8.
Interesting to note that the centre Depoortere, who scored an almost length of the field try at the weekend for Bordeaux has been retained. Hope he makes the 23.

And he does. Really like the look of that midfield.

As you were Galthie is safe for the meantime.
Much improved performance with newbie Meafou being one of the young players having a great game.
Should be a great game in Lyon on Saturday with both France and England discovering form simultaneously.

The Ramos/Depoortere axis was a disaster in defence. Lawrence will be praying it's the same next weekend because Ramos not wanting to tackle and leaving the rookie to cover the 10/12 channel himself is going to leave a lot of space. I wouldn't be surprised to see a slight realignment with Fickou coming into 12 and Depoortere playing in his preferred 13 position.

France won't like how close they were for so long up against a fairly poor Welsh side. The Welsh side played with a lot of pride and spirit but some of the errors and alignment from the French will have set Edwards eye twitching with rage.
