Lopez vs Nadal?
Is anyone else thinking that Lopez will give Nadal a much tougher contest than Murray will?
Lopez has:
Better serving
Better volleying
Better temperament -
than Murray has, in my opinion Nadal would prefer to play Murray than Lopez simply because he knows Murray will either play defensive and get overrun, or he will take chances and miss one too many forehands.
What you say?

Considering Nadal holds an 8-2 record on Lopez and 11-4 on Murray, I think Murray would give Nadal the better match.

Re: Lopez vs Nadal?
Hmm well...
It is more predictable the outcome of Nad-Murray on grass, afterall Nad has beaten him 3-0 both times, and recently 3-0 on clay which is almost playing like the grass.
Lopez seems more dangerous on this surface for Nad than Murray would..

Considering Lopez has only beaten Nadal on Grass last year, and the last time back in 2003 when Nadal was 17. Hmmm.....
Think Murray's game is much better compared to last year.

Re: Lopez vs Nadal?
Rafa knows how to deal with Murray at Wimby, and Murray is not confident or positive enough to take the match out of Rafa's hands, i'd surely believe that Lopez will make more of a match against Nadal if he is in fit condition..

Re: Lopez vs Nadal?
Hold your horses Josiah - Andy HAS ACTUALLY beaten Rafa.

Nalad would BURY Lopez - the same as he always Has

Re: Lopez vs Nadal?
I am not so sure. Murray has beaten Rafa twice in Grand Slams, Lopez hasn't. Lopez has beaten Nadal on Grass and Murray hasn't. Can't say I have seen a close Lopez v Nadal match.

Re: Lopez vs Nadal?
Don't get me wrong yummy, I would probably consider Murray favourite playing Nadal on HC, but never on grass and clay as he has proven much superior for Murray each time they played..

Re: Lopez vs Nadal?
If I was Nadal, as I've lost twice to Murray in slams, I'd want to to play Lopez.
Lopez against Nadal will be like another "Fish" out of water once a rally starts.

Yes Lopez is good hence he has just lost the first set.
His serving by the way is rubbish!
You must try harder Josiah

Murray 1 set to love
I wasn't ignoring you Josiah - just watching tv a the crucial moment
After the disaster of Murrays HC season and then the blossoming
of his CC season and reaching the last 16 at Wimby twice in a row
I'm not QUITE sure WHAT Andys favourite surface is at the moment !

With an 8-2 h2h for Nadal against Lopez and Murray having beaten Nadal in two slams.
You cannot be serious

Lopez is pretty rubbish, frankly. I don't know how he got as far as he did in this tournament. Nadal would rather play Lopez than Murray any day of the week, I imagine!

u mad?
Murray will go into pusher mode against Nadal which frankly only works on the HC, sorry but it will be a 3-0 Nadal win..

Still, at least Murray has a chance of winning the baseline rallies against Nadal...

LK you're falling into the trap of following the BBC biased ideology too much, Murray has no game to threaten Nadal.
A straight forward win for Nadal; bookmark it.

Re: Lopez vs Nadal?
No logic to your thinking whatsoever Josiah.
If world no.24 del Potro and world no.10 Mardy Fish can take sets off of Rafael Nadal at Wimbledon there is absolutely no reason to think why Andy as world no.4 can't do even better - especially considering he has beaten Nadal twice before in slam matches.

Re: Lopez vs Nadal?
Well Josiah tell me what area's of Murray's game that Nadal will exploit and dominate on?
Nadal's BH is weaker now than it has ever been. His first serving percentage is down because he has added pace to it. Murray by far is playing the best tennis of his career. I don't think it is as straight forward as people are thinking.
I think people see Nadal winning so much and believe it is as inevitable as a British summer wash out.

Re: Lopez vs Nadal?
erm....
Craig, last year Nadal was 2-1 down to Haase and Petzschner, and lost 1st set to Soderling 6-1, Nadal clearly plays better in the 2nd week as he proved by hammering the 4th seed in the semi's.
Murray won't get ahead in the match, you shouldn't believe everything the BBC churns out..

Re: Lopez vs Nadal?
Maybe you allow yourself to be brain-washed by the BBC but my thoughts are clear and by the way we have seen Nadal lose two sets in the second week of a slam event already which proves he is not bullet-proof whilst Andy has won in straight sets. And like I said before Andy has beaten Nadal twice before in slam events so its not like he hasn't done it before.

I wonder what the betting odds are for a MTO during the Nadal-Murray semi-final.

Re: Lopez vs Nadal?
Andy's serve will not hold up to the barrage of ammunition that Nadal will throw at him.. he's just a couple of levels below Nadal when they meet outside HC.

Re: Lopez vs Nadal?
I think it will be much closer this time. The most loyal of Nadal fans would admit he hasn't found top form at the moment. He has shown lapses in matches during this tournament and I think if Murray is on top of his game, he can exploit them.

Re: Lopez vs Nadal?
Very odd Josiah. His serve has heldf up before (TWICE) in slams and check your stats and you'll find Andy's serve has improved a lot since then.

Re: Lopez vs Nadal?
That was on HC brother, totally different game.
Andy has unfortunately been up against players with an average return of serve, and will likely fall into a false sense of security due to not being tested.
Nadal will not let Murray get a look in :p

Re: Lopez vs Nadal?
We shall see. My reasons for optimism:-
1. Rafael Nadal has shown he isn't bullet proof in his last two matches dropping sets against del Potro and Mardy Fish.
2. He has been missing a few eye-opening shots in these matches.
3. His form is not as dynamic as it was this time last year when Andy lost in three tight sets.
4. Andy is in better form than he was at this time last year (when he pushed Rafa hard).
5. Andy is mentally stronger as well than he was a few months ago.

Re: Lopez vs Nadal?
Well Murray has the highest return of serve percentage on the tour this year. Where Nadal is ranked 3rd. Like I say I think Nadal might be in for a shock come friday

Re: Lopez vs Nadal?
Let's hope so legend and I hope he goes on to win it.
Same old records getting played over & over again which gets boring I'm afraid.
I bet Italy, Germany,USA, Australia plus a host of other countries wish they could get one of their players in the semi final of slam never mind win one.
