HAWTHORN'S Matthew Suckling has has accepted a $900 penalty for making negligent contact with an umpire during the Hawks' NAB Cup encounter with Fremantle on Sunday.

Suckling was charged with making contact with umpire Sam Hay in the the second half of the round-one NAB Cup clash at Patersons Stadium.

Suckling was offered a $1200 fine that was downgraded to $900 with an early plea.

Suckling's indiscretion was the only incident assessed by the MRP.

The 22-year-old played five games for the Hawks last year for a career total of six.
