Andy Tuilagi arrested for brawling with Brian Lima

NEWPORT Gwent Dragons target Andy Tuilagi has been arrested and charged with an alleged assault on fellow Samoan Brian Lima.

The centre or wing, who has been a Dragons target for the past couple of months, was arrested along with his brother Vavae Tuilagi following an incident involving rugby legend Lima.

Lima is said to be nursing a split lip and minor scratches from the incident which took place at Vaitele in Samoa.

Assistant police commissioner Le’aupepe Fatu Pula confirmed Andy (real name Anitele’a) Tuilagi and his brother were arrested and charged, but declined to give details about what led to the alleged assault, saying it was a personal matter and police are investigating.

The Tuilagi brothers were, however, held under police custody overnight. “The brothers were under the influence of alcohol,” said the assistant commissioner. It is not known when the brothers will appear in court.

The assistant commissioner said that Lima had escaped with minor injuries. The player was unavailable for comment.

Tuilagi has been the target of Dragons head coach Darren Edwards for a while after he played with him for a spell at Leeds.

He was impressed with his fearlessness and his ability to get the backline moving, believing he could be the catalyst for the young backline.

Tuilagi has spent the last few seasons with Sale in the English Premiership, but his contract was ended a year early by mutual consent at the end of last season pending his move to the Dragons.

But a possible switch to Rodney Parade was held up when it was discovered that Tuilagi had broken his arm for a second time playing for Sale near the end of last season.

He has now had a medical and the Dragons are waiting for the results while he is also in the preliminary Samoan World Cup squad.

If he makes the final cut he would not be able to join up with the Dragons until late October if the move does goes ahead.

That one would of been worth the admission price alone, they should of sold tickets!

Makes sense really, if two of his brothers were involved.

Maybe he'll be turfed out of the Samoa squad now and with Dragons sooner (arm injury permitting). Is there any danger of him doing a bit of bird?

Now that is an interesting rumour - I saw that Olotuli, who is a fa’afafine, was also arrested in a different article about it.

Could have been anything. But as the family jumped in i would say it was either:

A: Your brother is a cross dresser!
B. Your brother should be playing for Samoa!
C. You lot can't punch for toffie!
D. Your brother is Gavin Henson!

Now option D was a bit below the belt... defo a family pile in there!!!
