Trunks

From Bob Fitzsimmons and his heavy woollen ones, Ali's iconic white Everlasts, through Prince Naseem and his garish leopardskins to Ricky Hatton's tassles, there have been many weird and wonderful ways of boxers expressing themselves through the medium of trunks.

What are your favourites and why?

Legend has it that Jack Johnson's were a sort of magenta colour which, given the period, his size, the colour of his skin and the nature of the sport, seems absolutely outrageous.

Wonderful stuff, and it must have gotten up a few noses.

Apparently Fitz was partial to pink ones, couple that with his red hair and drainpipe legs have to think he would have presented quite an odd looking fellow. Personally would not fancy pointing this out to him though.

Bit of trivia, here.

When Ali and Patterson met for the second time, both entered the ring wearing white trunks with black trimming. Apparently, it was against the rules of the day, and the referee demanded that Patterson change. Floyd refused, claiming that everybody knew one fighter from the other, and the referee eventually relented.

How about Hector Comacho,

some strange trunks indeed more of a skirt really!

Similar thing happened with Tyson vs Berbick.

Berbick decided to wear black trunks to get one over Tyson.

Tyson was fined for wearing the same colour as the champ and preceded to batter Berbick senseless. This of course was the PRIME Tyson (prime between the hours of 6pm and 9pm 22nd Nov 1986!!)

I liked the early 90's Benn / Eubank short shorts. You could see more ar5e.......

I like Macklin's there Green Irish, i used to wear green myself but not as smart as them, Tyson's trademark all black bored me

Lewis' Atomic Bull-busting hypnotic white shorts.

I used to find Danny Williams' long baggy trousers amusing, albeit they were stupid.

Also, liked the leopard print 'skort' that Hamed wore against Robinson, though they scarcely qualify as trunks...
