First topic message reminder :
A call to arms
As we are now 6 months old, we have been looking at what the future holds for 606v2.
Hopefully you have all been impressed with the efforts of both the admin and moderation teams. Since setting up the site as a new home for the old members of the BBC 606 service, we have grown into something that none of us could have imagined.
From Q&As to exclusive competitions, we are trying to offer a new experience for the forum members. We are committed to taking things even further with future link ups and exciting exclusives but we cannot do it alone. We need your help.
So what do we need? Well a simple economics lesson. If you have something that no one wants, the value of your good drops. Conversely, if you have something that is very desirable, your item is worth more. The same goes for our partners and prizes. The more people we have on our site, the more exclusive the link ups we will get and the more desirable the prizes we can offer.
So what do we want from you? Well quite simply, we want you to tell as many people as possible about 606v2.
That could be friends, families or colleagues. Tell them to check us out and join. If you belong to a sports club, tell them to take a look (from Golf to football – we want new members in every section).
If you work in a office – tell them about the football prediction league – if we get a big take up, we will attract some amazing prizes*. Every office I have ever worked in, has had a fantasy football league – tell them to join the 606v2 prediction one. ( https://www.606v2.com/t10360-prediction-league-partnership )
We are not asking for money – just support from everyone of you who uses this forum to take it to the next stage.
Going forward, we are on the cusp of some new announcements that you will hopefully all be as excited about as we are. However, if you have any ideas, then please leave them below, and please tell us about anyone you manage to get to join.
Your forum needs you!
*amazingness of the prizes is not guaranteed, and is totally subjective.

Was thinking of writing something like this to plug the forum. Think it would be all right?

606v2 is the answer. From GAA to American football,V2 caters for everthing. The user friendly forum has also created competitons to win signed jerseys from teams such as the Ospreys as well as other competitions with companies such as Primetime,a PPV boxing channel . I know it's been mentioned before, but if the mobile 606v2 could be set up that would be really helpful, and you might find it increases interest in the site as people would read it on their phones if/when they can't get it on a PC.

The mobile features does work already, Cari. I quite often use my iPhone to browse the forum.
Thomond, that sounds fine. I have just shared the 606v2 facebook page on my facebook wall.

The mobile version only works for browsing, not posting at the moment.
We keep asking but keep being told - "soon"
Thanks for all those who are spreading the word about 606v2 - keep it up!

You can post from your phone using the "classic" view - the beta "mobile" view is still read-only.

Re: Your forum needs you - please read
Yeah sounds about right.
If you go to the bottom of the read only page, I'm pretty sure there is a 'classic' option that you can select, which then allows you to post.

Re: Your forum needs you - please read
FOF - yes, I can post from my mobile using the "classic" setting, but that's very slow and cumbersome. I meant the mobile app version which will be quicker once it's up and running.

I woudl like the feature we had in 606 which consisted as being the mod of our own thread by deleting posts not appropriate to the discussion.

Tenez wrote:I woudl like the feature we had in 606 which consisted as being the mod of our own thread by deleting posts not appropriate to the discussion.
See I actually didn't like that, threads became very unbalanced with certain OP's just deleting comments of people they didn't particularly like etc.
The 606v2 system of mods and admins doing the deleting is much more suitable, in my opinion.
Re: Your forum needs you - please read
I don;t mind having mods deleting anything that shoudl be deleted but I also woudl like to invite some posters to a discussion while barring it to others...on some discussions I choose to. After all I create the thread and shoudl be able to manage the way it's going. The most insightful discussions I have had were in PMs cause we could talk freely without having others dragging the discussion to less interesting levels.
The benefit of this is that an interesting discussion can evolve nicely without being dragged down again in old debates.
Imagine if, I for instance wanted to create a debate/thread on how great and talented Nadal is. I woudl find it tiring to have the likes of Tenez and others spoiling it by coming up again and again on how Nadal is essentially a physical player and not a very talented one.
I recognise it could be a bit anti-social for a nice, well behaved forum but that could lead to more interesting and specialised discussion.

Arent you Tenez?
Are you talking about yourself in the third person like Cantona? Do the seagulls follow you?

Part of the duties of the moderators and admins is to build bridges and close fissures among warring members.
Self - moderation of threads would only widen fissures, encourage cliques and factions, and make the building of bridges next to impossible.

My exact thoughts, but summed up in a much more eloquent way!

Just been exploring the site - been rather stuck on the tennis forum.
See you are on Twitter - have one of the Mods post a plea to members in each sporting section to join Twitter and push up 606v2 number of hits there.

If you go to the portal page ( https://www.606v2.com/portal ) situated along the nav bar (along with a news page people) at the top, you will get a link to all the twitter accounts
Check out the off topic sections too - these are a great way of getting to know a few people from other sections on common ground.

Re: Your forum needs you - please read
I'd try encourage posters to give testimonials.Ive heard some people say that this forum and 606 have given them confidence socially. others talk about how the banter pre and post game adds to a match week. For my part I was able to point to 606 postings and blog work in a recent interview and was given the job of online promotion and project management for a rugby touring company. This forum has spurred plenty of real ljfe meetups. Start encouragung testimonials.
