There were never going to be Maori Logos on the shirts. It was suggested that there would be some on the training kits.

Anyway, all the controversy has been shown to be absurd, that looks nothing like an All Blacks strip.

Wise words.

You know some people on here just want any excuse to have a go at anything to do with the England rugby team without having the facts in front of them.

If that is real then looks like Nike have reflected on the original decision and gone for something different. It's still hideous though.

True, the kits especially Nike kits, look a lot like soccer kits. I hope they still sell real rugby shirts for those of us old enough to look a little ridiculous in a modern dri-quick fabric shirt that is so tight. I might be able to get into one but i think i would need help to get it off again.

I think that charcoal, being a diluted imitation of black is an appropriate colour.

Yea especially as they have already used a charcoal kit. Its looking more and more like a publicity stunt.

There were no photos when the story emerged, but as the link above says the design had Maori Symbols and that Professor Ranginui Walker wasn't to happy about the use of traditional imagery.

Thats how i interpreted it and hence no reply...! Your grammatical analogy may well have confused him though, I think that if you really want a response you may have to simplify the QUESTION...!

I think the question was meant to be asking how Professor Ranginui Walker, an All Black supporter and a Maori affairs political commentator, would know what the RFU and Nike were planning for the England away kit. Can't be 100% sure though.

Just to clarify, the first article I read on the new strips said the training strip was going to be the one with maori symbols - see here

It's kind of hard to get symbols on an all black shirt unless you copy the NZ Maori centenary shirt, which I can't find a pic of right now Sad

Uhhhh... no GG, it looks like it was probably always intended to look and anything else in the public domain was just speculation.

It's how the players wanted it.

"Based on player feedback, the collar has elastic within the neckline for the first time, keeping the neckline as close to the body as possible to help prevent shirt pulling whilst providing comfort. There is also a silicone gripper at the hemline of the playing shirt to help keep it tucked in and close to the body. The silicone hem features the word England in its design.

The clean white home shirt design features a subtle matt/gloss white check pattern on the front panel of the shirt whilst the change shirt has a matt/gloss black check in the same area.

The gripper panels on the shirt, to give players more control of the ball are now across the shoulders, pectoral area and stomach area of the shirt and arranged in a check pattern.

The iconic rose emblem is made from Nike Considered (recycled) yarn and heat-applied to the shirt to avoid puncturing and weakening the fabric.

For the first time the shorts feature a new flock hand dry print to help players keep hands dry during games. And the socks, which feature support material for the first time, have a no-contact toe seam and enhanced fit footbed to reduce blisters and improve comfort."
