Zaheer out of series

BBC now reporting Zaheer Khan being out of the rest of the series and RP Singh being flown in to replace him.

It appears they've identified an ankle problem that is the underlying cause of the hamstring problems, which will require surgery and need about 3 months on the sidelines.

Obviously more bad news for the Indian tour party on what has become something of a tour from hell for them.

not a huge suprise relle but another blow to the indian camp, and also psycholgoial blow to them as well

Huge boost for England really. Losing the attack's spearhead presents them with a massive problem!

Losing there main seamer is going to be tough for India I can't see them coming back from this, 4-0 victory could be on the cards

Out for 14-16 weeks. Ouch.

kohli is in for the squad for yuvraj, do u think he will play in the series at all??

Now that Sehwags back in the team and Mukunds on form I doubt he will

Agree I think Kohli and Vijay are far better players, Vijays massively underrated with the selectors.

he had a poor tour of windies, but everyone deserves an extended run in a side or squad.

Gotta be a huge blow for India, he was the only quick to look any kind of consistent threat. Of course it's unfortunate but it's not just bad luck this has happened.

Without wishing to tempt fate, I don't see RP Singh making enough of an impact to make a difference in this series.

RP Singh? Are they kidding?
The guy has some tallent, and did well in England in the past. But he got dropped for a terrible lack of form, and didn't do anything to deserve a call up.

Don't see him making it to the playing XI either. As such, a squad opportunity for someone like Abhimanyu Mithun, Jaidev Unadkat, Umesh Yadav, or even R Vinay Kumar would have made greater sense.

Seems the selectors have only looked at RP's bowling arm, and since he, like Zaheer bowls left arm, they thought he should be the man!!!.

to be honest it wouldnt suprise me if they went in with mishra and ojha, as edgbaston prob will turn, and yuvraj isnt playing, raina is an awful test bowler, and sehwag wont bowl cos of his shoulder

Which is a bloody sight less time than your other bowlers look like they'll need. Kumar is the only one of your bowlers who has shown any sort of consistency (other than Harbijhan, who was consistently awful)- OK, he's not quick enough to be a world beater but he looks like he understands how to bowl in English conditions and has had a good series to date.

25 wickets in 5 tests shouldn't be that bad I should say.
PK is not the fastest bowler in the planet for sure. But how many of our bowlers can consistently bowl at a pace of over 140?
Ishant and Sreesanth can bowl at a decent pace, but they both do not have the control of PK, and have been very inconsistent.
When last seen, Rudra Pratap Singh was bowling in the range of the mid 120s to the very early 130s. That's hardly express, and unlike PK, he tends to explore the entire wicket while he bowls!!!!. Never pitches 2 balls on the same spot!!!!.

praveen kumar been their best bowler he should play, but india's bowling attack does look toothless without zaheer
