The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the collage of great centres pictures on the bar. We've got Roberts, SB Williams, Ansbro, O'Driscoll, Danie van Wyk and Rougerie all in action. Graffiti's a banning offence
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

I asked in the other pub and no one replied
I always thought Nonu played 12 though, not sure. I can always change it. To be fair Roberts plays 12 too. I cheated and just put down centres

Afternoon all. Both SBW and Nonu are normally 12s, SBW played there yesterday.
Dreamer, when we get to the front row collage we may have to say "graffiti's unnecessary, nothing could help this lot"

hahahah aye maybe Kiwi!
Think the front row should be for the next pub, there have been some outstanding performances there so far.

Indeed. Only in the interests of mathematical precision back in the day - 5/8s does come fit between half-back and centre three quarter after all.

Why dont they call the back row the 1st, 2nd and 3rd 3/8ths then?

Bliwdy knackered, spent all day tramping all around Orkney's Neolithic sites - have seen Skara Brae, Ring of Stenness, Maeshowe and Ring of Brodgar - amazing stuff, all built long before the pyramids and even Stonehenge. And the Chiefs comfortably beat Newcastle 32-15 for a TBP - great start to the season now for a pint of local real Scapa Special - v tasty

Can I suggest a guest 13 of Namibia's Danie van Wyk to represent the fiesty minnows? I just watched the Fiji v Namibia game and was impressed by him and his county's efforts.

Same reason the locks aren't called the quarters and the front row the 1/8ths I guess .
Of course back when the terms were coined NZ was still fielding a "wing-forward" to feed the 7-man scrum ...

Technically Kahui's a centre who covers wing, so he may get Cari's vote too Dreamer

We will need to ask Gibbo about how it all used to be in the olden days Kiwi.

ah but he played on the wing. Think of how nice the wing collage will be when both Bowe and Kahui are both up there......
Still, Cari if you want his pic up there, let me know!
Scarlets lost, by 2 points, after leading for most of the match, I'm v upset

I'm just kicking myself for not including Melody Robinson in the flankers list last pub - Sky Sports NZ presenter, double Womens' RWC winner, former Miss Canterbury and she had the good sense to dump Steve Walsh back in '07
Though at least I picked Connacht in the SportsGuru

picking Connacht doesn't make up for it Kiwi!
The only Welsh woman rugby player I know of really is Non Evans (apart from my friend from school Caryl Thomas), but she rather scares me, not sure I'd like her pic up there!

I dont want to get into a heavy debate roysh, but Isreal should not exist. Not in that region anyway. Should have made it what it really is. A State in the US Realm. Nobody is using Idaho...
That, is where it will ALL kick off. (Isreal with its neighbours - not Idaho). NostraGibbo.

Stag, what did you think of the standard last night? Any particular player for Lims stand out?
Also I know people in here won't care but the NFL have allowed players to wear their own coloured boots and glooves tomorrow to commerate 9/11. A nice touch: http://twitter.com/#!/55Berger/media/slideshow?url=http%3A%2F%2Ftwitpic.com%2F6i0yd2

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Evening all
Been a mad busy day, still have the three games from the early hours to catch up on. Wife is out at a hen night at the local spa, so the plan is, get the kids to bed and get into the rugby.
Hope everyone's had a good day. Congrats to those whose teams have won so far this weekend, and commiserations to those who haven't.
In other news, Upsy Daisy, Makka Pakka, the Pontipines and the Haa Hoos have all gone to bed, but IgglePiggle is being a rebel and refusing. It will all end in tears you know!

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I thought both teams were very poor IMO best player on the pitch was Purcell for Limerick. Behan got the goal but was poor overall. Gamble good in defense but offered nothing going forwaed.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
That sounds a lot like Joey! A great passer of the ball though. Behan is a bit of an enigma. Gamble is better than this level,he showed that in those summer friendlies. Any game involving Longford is usually awful. The LOI 1st divison is a 2 tier league really.

We loike to be different roysh. Hate to mix with the common crowd. (Shifts D&G's to head position, checks navy cashmere jumper is correctly placed on shoulders, admires chinos & Dubes, checks hair is quiffed appropriately... strolls nonchelontly into Koileys for a pint of Ken, like the sex-God he truly is)
"Hoi Jemima, I see the other lot - Munster, Connacht and Ulster won as well"
"Like OMG Gibbo, you mean they actually play rugby too?"
"Yeah Jem, but only the posh ones and there's not many of them. And they are not very good, but we like to encourage them. Mad I know."
"Óooh, they even have posh people out in the wilds G, like rich farmers in chinos & Dube wellies? OMG LOL"
"Shut up Jemima and drink yer daquiri"
Leinstuur, Leinstuur, Leinstuur.

Pete,
If you think think Argentina beat ye up badly in the scrum today - and they did... just watch what Romania did to Scotland's. They man-shamed them. Unreal. I dread to think how much Georgia's has improved.
Basically, they have far superior packs to all of ours. Just need to develop decent backs players. If they develop them in the next few years... we (the Home Nations ) - are all phhoked.
Do us good. Do the game a World of good.

Ansbro looks decent for Scotland, not seen much of him but could be a useful addition at the Madejski once the World Cup is over.
Gibbo, it is fantastic for rugby if the smaller nations like Georgia and Romania do push the tier one sides close. will put us on he road to making it a truly global game.

Is anyone watching the O's? Talk about frustrating. Drop goal disallowed cause it was too high, and then Tipuric loses the ball just as he was touching down to score a try after a great run.

Some big old lumps from 1 to 8 for Romania. Am looking forward to seeing the Georgians, they have some real beasts in the pack. Pool B is going to be seriously atritional all the way through.
