World Form XI
Every so often I look at the ICC player rankings to see if we had to pick a World XI to play in the UPL (Universe Premier League) who would get the call.
The rankings are not infallible, but they are a good guide to form over the last 12 months. As I write this I have yet to look at the rankings, so lets see who would be in:
Test Team:
Cook (Rating 823, Ranking 2=)
Amla (744/9) -- Next highest Test Opener
Sangakkara (817/5)
Tendulkar (818/4) --- That shocked me.
Kallis (883/1)
Bell (823/2=)
Prior (679/22) --- Much higher than any other keeper (as Sanga does not keep)
Swann (761/3)
Morkel (751/4)
Steyn (899/1)
Anderson (802/2)
All in all a pretty decent team.

Re: World Form XI
Thats not really current form but performances over a few years...also the ratings tend to reward players who have polayed a lot of games. Someone like Bresnan whos been in awesome form is down the rankings due to not playinmg in all of Englands tests
The keeper rating is of course purely on batting, but Prior would get into the side regardless....he keeps well and has been by the the best batting keeper in the world recently.
Infact that side as you say would be pretty much the same as anyone sensibles current world XI
Shows how much India have flumped

That team wouldn't be far off the 'best of' team I would actually pick.
