New Two and a half Men.... Empty New Two and a half Men....

Post by Beer Fri 23 Sep 2011, 7:36 pm

Well, after reading negative reviews of the new series minus Charlie Sheen i was a bit apprehensive, but i've just watched it and it's quality!

Ashton seemed to fit right in and the humour and connection between the 2 was spot on.

Anyone else check it out?

Decent but nothing compared to when Sheen was on it. I'll give it a chance but I wasn't sold.

I wouldve preferd a different angle on Ashton's character, say a cousin of Alan and Charlie's they had seen like once before, Charlie leaves him the house instead of Alan and then you would have had the resentment from Alan to Ashton's character

It'll be interesting to see how it plays out. Aston's character (Walden Schmit?) is quite similar to Alan in a lot of ways so I'm not sure how they will play off each other as him and Charlie did so well. It'll be a real test of Lorre's writing ability, as personally I don't think he's written much funny stuff without Charlie Sheen's delivery.

Monday 3rd. Think they may be showing 2 episodes although don't quote me on the 2nd part.

I love that idea, I think it would have been a much better way to go. Thought the first 2 episodes were solid enough though.

I hope I'm wrong, despite record viewer numbers for the new series I don't think it's going to work.

Enjoyed it last night. It's been better recently - not Charlie Sheen good, but better.

yh i know. It is good, but it isnt great, it used to be extremely funny, and a reflection of the life that Charlie sheen lived. I just think it will go downhill sadly.

It will last as long as the ratings do or the cast want it to, about the only channels that don't base shows on ratings in the US are those that are subscription based (HBO etc).

I'm not really sure being funny is a criteria for keeping a show going as long as its popular, just ask "Everybody Loves Raymond" it spent its entire existence being unfunny.

Everybody loves raymond was a very good show....it only stopped because the actor who played frank, died.

Agree to disagree on that particular show, though the point about ratings triumphing over the actual quality or funniness of any show still stands.
