Best value (£ per point)

Sebastian Vettel - £23k
Mark Webber - £38k
Lewis Hamilton - £48k
Jenson Button - £54k
Felipe Massa - £95k
Nico Rosberg - £113k
Michael Schumacher - £135k
Fernando Alonso - £141k

At Sebastian Vettel's rate - Fernando Alonso should be returning 1894 World Championship points.

You could have at least tried to find a more accurate source, to back up your statement. Rolling Eyes

According to formula1onlive.com - 2011 Drivers Salaries they are as follows:

1. Fernando Alonso - €30m (£25.8m)
2. Jenson Button - €10m (£8.6m)
3. Lewis Hamilton - €10m (£8.6m)
4. Felipe Massa - €10m (£8.6m)
5. Nico Rosberg - €8m (£6.88m)
6. Michael Schumacher - €8m (£6.88m)
7. Sebastien Vettel - €8m (£6.88m)
8. Mark Webber - €8m (£6.88m)

(According to the European Central Bank, €1 currently equals £0.86)

So it looks like the Daily Mail wasn't that far off.

Getting back on topic, I'd say most drivers justify their wages, except Alonso.

Wonder if Felipe knows his team mate is getting paid 3 times more than he is?

Lewis Hamilton & Jenson Button are not paid equal salary. Even with Button's new contract I would be amazed if it rivals Lewis'. Hamilton is the second highest paid racing driver in f1 at around £16m at Mclaren. Hamilton makes around £25m a year from his salary, sponsorship and endorsements. Alonso is just so filthy rich its sickening. I agree they risk their lives for the sport, however £30m salary alone at Ferrrari before sponsorship etc is ridiculous.

With high levels of unemployment worldwide, is it is fair for an F1 driver to sack family? or many personal trainers?

Some people are trying to stop this situation getting out of hand - Fernando Alonso recently hired the lovely Roberta Vallorosi as his personal press secretary, while HRT is set to announce how many drivers they will use next season.

We should follow the Spanish example.
