Boxing Section design Empty Boxing Section design

Post by Adam D Tue 01 Mar 2011, 10:55 am

We have the ability to customize the boxing board slightly and I feel it would be good to ask you, the members, for your suggestions as to what you want it to look like.

Anything we do, can be undone should it not feel right after implementation. We all trying to make this the board that you want, so please give us your input.

The two biggest names that keep reappearing on threads are Mannie and Floyd. We could create a subsection for each of these on the home page of the boxing board, which will allow you to keep discussions about them in one place.

We could also do a section for:

Polls
Fights
Fantasy matches
Other Boxers
News

plus any other section you wish to consider.

Obviously, for each subsection, it will push the top topic a little further down the board, as the subsections will be stuck at the top.

As stated, we want this board to look like how the majority want it to. The mods are getting to grips with their roles(and please remember that they are new to this and for me, are already doing a great job) and will feedback anything you want to talk to them about to the admin team. There will always be a few spats but we are trying to make this a home for you all - please let us know what you want.

H

Personally, I don't like the idea of subsections. Everything at a glance is fine and there aren't enough threads to need to split them.

I'd agree with Scott, there's no need for other subsections. I'm open to changes in terms of colour, design and all that (will leave those suggestions to others, though) but wouldn't like subsections being added.

Subsections make it to difficult to find threads and stuff plus i'd be stuck in the historical one all day and current boxing would completely bypass me

To be honest guys I think the board is working very well the way it is. I think subsections makes things unnecessarily complex. All articles go up on the board, the popular ones stay there due to the 'bump' effect. If people aren't interested in a subject it will eventually drop off the radar. The only issue I've had is the OTT merging of unrelated threads as discussed earlier this morning, but as you say it's a new process and I'm sure these things will be ironed out in time. You're doing a cracking job with the site and if it ain't broke don't fix it.

Agree with Ghosty, don't care for subsections, they have them on Eastside and I just tended to stick to the old timers area and so you do tend to miss out on stuff you may not be overly familiar with and for me one of the best things about forums is the ability to learn about the sport.

Like the others i would not have any additional sections.

At the moment in the boxing section from top to bottom spans around 4-5 days. If it got to the point where all the topics spaned less than a day on a regular basis then that might be a good time to create the odd subsection.

Some line of way to filter how the threads are listed, like on the old 606.

You mean from within an individual thread? There is always the back button plus at the top of the thread there is a link back to boxing home

Personally I prefer the list of Articles to be in date order rather than what article was last replied to, but hey that's just me!
