Why do you still watch wrestling?

It's fake and once I realised this when I was young, it did crush me to be fair.

Besides this, it used to be generally great with Hulk Hogan etc.

The few times I've flicked it on recently it seems stupid.

So anyways, why are grown men still watching this?

Jay, Ive watched wrestling since I can remember. Its just something I enjoy.
Its like asking why do people watch Eastenders.
Also, this site was created by guys from the wrestling section on 606.

As I'm bored let's start a 'why do you still watch eastenders' thread

I watch it sporadically mainly via YouTube and I do tend to either watch matches that the guys on here have waxed lyrical about (Punk - Cena being an example) or older events such as those from the 'attitude era' or before.

I have lately watched some the past few Raw's and have to admit to finding the whole soap opera feel of it quite boring and find myself fast forwarding the in-ring action itself but that's just me.

I did watch this years Wrestlemania live and my boss couldn't believe I wanted to book the following morning off due to this and told me I needed horsewhipping!

Jay watch the 1992 Royal Rumble and tell me, as a grown man, that you don't find that grade A entertainment!

Why do grown men read Harry Potter?
Why do grown men go gocarting, paintballing etc?

Because the stuff we did when we were younger can still be enjoyable perhaps? We don't suddenly have to give up on these and watch Countryfile and read the Economist instead.

I know. That probably will be the majority of us! I use that line when my work friends tell me wrestling is fake...only one of them gets it!

cracks me up every time!

Many us get tired of these types of questions because it feels like we have to justify why we like wrestling, but in all seriousness to give a straight answer to the question MITB 2011 is a good example of why I still watch wrestling. Every now and again a storyline comes around with a wrestler or wrestlers who are incredibly talented at what they do and you just let yourself get taken for the ride. I loved everything about the MITB storyline and as a Punk mark I found it really gratifying to see him being given the ball and allowed to prove what he can do. I also had new found respect for Cena as he really stepped up his game in both of their matches and I really felt their second match at Summer Slam was just as entertaining. Even though the twist at the end of that match took Punk out of the title picture for a while as he battled HHH at Night of Champions it was worth it because the whole locker room walking out on HHH in no confidence of him as COO has been really compelling. This doesn't happen every month but occassionally the WWE prove they can still produce engaging and highly enjoyable TV and PPVs.
