What happened to Soderling?

He hasn't played for a long while and I am not sure what was his reason for pulling out of the USO.

He pulled out of the US due to a virus and his ongoing wrist injury and this has also forced him out of shanghai hope that helps

yeah I picked up a rumour somewhere that he had mono, but having looked for the story couldn't find it anywhere...

Found this link in which Soderling confirms on his Twitter account that he has been suffering from mono (glandular fever). Looked at his Twitter account today and he is hoping to be playing again later this month. That sort of illness really takes it out of you so it may be sometime before he gets back to full fitness. Not one of my favourite players but is one who at his best can compete with the top guys. Hoefully his full recovery does not take too long.

EBV is very unpredictable - if he really has EBV he wont know when he's ready to play at this stage as for some the illness may pass in a few weeks but for others like Ancic it can ruin your career...lets hope its not the latter!

Roddick also had a mild case of Mono. He seems to be better now.

It is sad to see such injuries and diseases. Wishing all tennis players good health so they can play longer and their respective fans enjoy long careers.

with soderling's current position in the atp tour race and his involvement in retaining his only masters title is there a chance he may not even make the tour finals this year??? would be a big shame!
