Sonny Bill Williams

Sonny Bill Williams made his name in NRL. He controversially then moved to Toulon Rugby Union on a lucrative 2 year contract. Despite a 7 figure contract offer on the table, Sonny took a pay cut and returned to NZ to play Super Rugby with the Crusaders and ultimately the All Blacks, helping them win their first world cup for 24 years.

During all this, he has had 3 Heavyweight contests in the boxing ring, establishing a 4(2)-0-0 record so far. He has indicated that boxing is his real love and intends to continue in the ring alongside his rugby.

Really interesting guy. He has allegedly declared his intention to only ever sign a one year deal for the remainder of his career to 'leave his options open'. Thoughts on his career as a fighter. You Tube footage available.

Must be good to get 4 wins from 3 contests. Haven't seen him box yet though.

I really am on a downward spiral, I didn't even notice that.

I just dont think its possible to have both careers side by side and expect to shine in both.

At the moment, SBW is a fantastic rugby player (and WC winner), however I would guess his boxing is more to do with ego and the love for the sport.

He hasnt faced anyone of note yet (the last guy was a bouncer from memory) and I doubt he would whilst playing rugby full time.

Difference being one is an elite athlete and the other is a a fat bruiser.

Might be made for boxing with those credentials but suspect its a money making thing.

Seems like a nice guy, just doing what he wants to do, fair enough.
