First topic message reminder :

So then people what really annoys you.

No matter how gig or trivial it is, this is the thread to vent your anger and annoyance.

I shall start this with:

Starburst. They are not Starburst, they are Opel Fruits and always will be. And don't get me started on Snickers. STOP CHANGING THE NAME OF SWEETS!!!!

That's plain lazy/ignorant, luckless.

It grinds me when I hear "The President said in Washington Thursday..."

Shouldn't there be an 'on' between Washington and Thursday?

Those idiots who run along side the cyclist in the TdF wearing capes and waving their fists in the rider's face. It must be so annoying for a rider who has been busting his guts to get up the mountain to have that waiting for you!

People who end every sentence with 'so...'

I used to work for the DWP transcribing interviews verbatim and it was deeply annoying when I knew what was coming at the end of every sentence.

People that will go to any lengths to get attention, including making a tool of themselves in public and think they're great. *News flash* You're not great, you're a mentally insuffcient bumhole.

And breathe.

Laugh Oh man I just had a good laugh reading that. But yeah shiite car stickers are up there, especially those fecking pointless ones with "[whatever] ON BOARD" Who cares who's on board? I don't sit there and go "Oh look! That car has a Princess on board would you believe!" 🤦

It winds me up when people recite conversation they've had, and start every new speaker with "they turned around",

"Then she turned around and said I looked fat"
"And I turned around and said so do you"
"Then she turned around....

What's with all the turning around? Were they literally spinning on the spot whilst talking?

It's really annoying when people say 'like' for no reason in conversation.

So she said, like, 'get over yourself,' and I was like, 'what?' And she was like, 'you heard me,' and I was like, 'I'm not having that,' and she was like, 'whatever...'

Good list Cari. OK

I remember hearing that "gotten" was prevalent in East Anglia hundreds of years ago...then died out, however it survived in New England, USA.

I nearly choked on my noodles when I heard a girl on TV say the other day: 'howevers"... with an 's'!

Continuing on the same vein...
People that speak with an accent that just doesn't match where they come from, the fake Manchester accent springs to mind whilst walking around the towns in Cheshire.
Sorry, but you're not a Scally, your dads a dentist and you go to school in a Qashqai, you holiday in the south of France and you eat couscous, so stop with the 'swagger' and walking about like you've dumped a load in the back of your pants where the crotch for some reason is around your knees.

Hero - speaking of blokes wearing their trousers like that. I saw a boy the other day wearing trackie bottoms and the waistband was around his thighs. He was walking like he'd crapped himself. I really don't understand young local kids dressing like American rappers. They look stupid.

Laugh

I must get over there someday to hear all of that, Hero. I can pick up some basic differences and hazard a guess, to within a region maybe - but you can probably tell the fake ones.

I'd be Headscratch and asking them to please repeat.

You should hear some of the accents here. Not the stereotypical broad one (that's just put on for the tourists) but a vietnamese, lebanese or russian - aussie accent. Cringe away! I find it fascinating when a chinese bird opens her mouth and makes me sound like a foreigner!

James Murdoch has that awful mixture of an american, english and australian accent. Niether here nor there.

I guess when you have all that money you can sound however you want!

His old man on the other hand...has a south australian accent put through a tumble drier with some american traits and some rocks.

How can wifes just dissapear in supermarkets.

There I am walking down an aisle talking to her then look over my shoulder to see no one. I then get very strange looks and it take me 10 minutes to find her.
Happens every week

People who talk about themselves. Unless you have done something really sepcial or groundbreaking, I don't give a phuck. Don't start sentences with, 'I remember when I' or 'I've got one of those and' or 'My house/car/man sausage has'. Not In.ter.rest.ed.

Imprecision.

Ireland is not in the UK, the UK is not Great Britain, Great Britain is not England. It's not a nationalist thing, I just get worked up when there's already a word for something and people say something else because they're lazy.

Oh, and I get just as worked up if I hear someone referring to Finland as Scandanavian.

Or if they say they don't 'believe in evolution' because man didn't come from monkeys. Ugh.

And people who, if you ask them to do something, make sure they give you the full 80% effort.

Gah! I hate people.

30 year olds who winge on about pensions and how unlucky they are.

When I was 12 years old I had a paper round and in the spring/summer I would caddy at weekends and in the autumn/winter I would go beating at local shoots.
One summers day I did my paper round and caddied 3 rounds
At 14 years of age I worked weekends and school holidays.
At 15 years old I worked 70 hour weeks in the summer and 42 hours in the winter.
I worked and paid taxes all of my working life until I semi retired age 57.
42 years at an average of 50+ hours a week is around 120,000 working hours completed.

Today many young folk go to Uni, do thier degree take a gap year [or two] and finally start work and paying tax into the system at 25 years old.
They then have the nrerve to complain about working a couple of extra years.
