Over the festive period we don't get to see much boxing there isn't a lot on over here or in the U.S. But in Asia they love a festive fight! boxing Here is a few of the cards to look out for over the festive period.

On the 23rd of Decemeber from Bangkok there is a World title double header. Adrian Hernandez 22(14)-1(1)-1 defends his WBC light flyweight title against Kompayak Porpramook 43(29)-3(2)-0 (not the man who was involved in the FOTY for this year btw). This should be a good fight Hernandez loves a good scrap and Porpramook is no stranger to a good dust up himself but he prefers to box early on and build up a points lead using his jab and good foot movement. Expect a slow start with Herandez coming forward and probably being down on points going into the mid way point in the fight. Then expect fireworks and fireworks and a good scrap with Porpramook just edging it with his superior movement and speed.

A co feature to this bout is P4P top 10 star Pongsaklek Wonjongkam 83(44)-3(1)-1 defending his WBC flyweight title against Hirofumi Mukai 5-1-0. Mukai has no right being in this fight but Wonjongkam fights guys like this a lot but not usually in World title fights. They usually get beat up and stopped pretty quickly as well and I see no reason why this should be any different.

On New years Eve their is 2 cards from Japan. WBA World super featherweight champion the entertaining and talented big punching Takashi Uchiyama 17(14)-0-0 faces Jorge Solis 40(29)-3(2)-2 who hasn't fought since his one sided beating at the hands of Yuriorkis Gamboa in March. Solis hasn't fought in Asia before but has been stopped twice in his three defeats albeit at the hands of the afore mentioned Gamboa and his other stoppage defeats was to Manny pacquiao so no shame in that really. Uchiyama has had it pretty easy since beating Juan carlos salgado for his title almsot two years ago now. I'm not sure Solis has enough left to beat Uchiyama but it should be a good fight as both like to have a go and it will be good to see how big a puncher Uchiyama is as Solis has a decent set of whiskers. I think Uchiyama will win this by a late stoppage he is very well rounded and Solis struggles with guys who throw combinations and Uchiyama throws some beautiful combinations with great speed, variety and a fair bit of whack.

Celestino Caballero 35(23)-4(1)-0 will defend his WBA World super featherweight title against Japans talented and very quick footed Satoshi Hosono 21(15)-1-0. Caballerro has no doubt seen better days but looked decent when revenging his defeat to Johnathan Victor Barrios in October. This is Caballerros 4th fight this year which isn't to bad for a man of 35 Hosonos only defeat came to Poonsawat Kratingdaenggym almost two years ago and at super bantamweight. I expect Hosono to be to young and to quick for Caballerro. Hosono moves in and out a lot and likes to punch in combinations so if Caballerro is going to last the distance his defence will need to be tight and he will need to use his jab to try and control range because he can't move like he used to. Hoson should be a bit to young and fresh for Caballerro and should win on points pretty comfortably.

Japans new sensation Kazuto Ioka 8(5)-0-0 defends his WBC minimumweight title against a man a a eerily similar record in Yodgoen Tor Chalermchai 8(4)-0-0. The numbers of the records is where the similarity ends Iokas last three fights have all been at a very high level Juan Hernandez, Oleydong Sithsamerchai and Masayoshi Segawa with the latter 2 failing to go the distance. Ioka was a star amateur winning a number of national tournaments. He is trained by his uncle Hiroki Ioka who was the first ever WBC minimumweight champion. If you haven't see Ioka he is one to look out for. He is very well rounded and has an excellent defence. He has knocked out World level opponents so he carries a bit of dig as well. Chalermchai has never boxed anywhere near world level so shouldn't cause Ioka much trouble but he has been 10 rounds on a couple of occasions so I don't expect the distance to worry him just the sensational talent in front of him trying to knock him out.

Anyone else looking forward to any of these or am I really that sad? chin

The problem is it's so hard to see these fights. Ioka seems areal talent but won't make a career outside of asia (he can still make avery good living) as the weight division isn't flattering at all.

The fight of the year between Yaegashi and Porpramook is only available on youtube and yet still only has about 16000 viewers, a measily amount

Do what I do mate don't watch them live download them from one of the torrent sites like tc-boxing or WBVA. Ioka can make big money in Asia like Koki Kameda does. Only really Mayweather, Pacquiao and the Klitschkos make more money than Koki Kameda. Ioka is 5ft 5 so there is scope for him to move up in weight possibly as high as featherweight because he's only 22. I reckon he will be P4P#1 in the future.
