Going Going Gone
If I am honest, these last few weeks on here have been the most frustrating. I am with NITB and I am heading out.
The forum has one too many fanatics who just repeat the same things over and over. While some would say ignore it, I can't. I just find it too difficult to overlook.
I wish to thank those who have made it a pleasurable experience for me, others have made it to the equilvalent of pulling teeth.
For those who wish to remain in contact with me please feel free to drop me an pm and I shall stay in touch via e-mail.
Thanks

Rise above it LK and stick around. Recognise posters for what they are (not what they pretend to be) and react accordingly. Usually with a chuckle to oneself and a shake of the head, until it gets too boring and you sort of gloss over them.

As JHM would say (and someone else before him...) ....
YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS.
Seriously, LK, take a break, and come back refreshed. We eagerly anticipate your return.

Re: Going Going Gone
Shame to see someone with so much knowledge and experience of the game leave. Feel free to pop back whenever you wish to. You might want to stick to the competition threads when and if they appear (e.g Prostaff's thread). Lengthy breaks can be good - even the professional tennis players threatened to strike over it.
Remember 606 v2 has more to offer by way of debate than just tennis. You can be in control. Getting on with people you might not particularly like, or who have opinions you strongly oppose, or who don't appear to be willing to listen to what you say, is not easy - and that's just the mother in law
All the best

Re: Going Going Gone
To be quite honest laver and other other mods, I feel very responsible because I wonder if I have made things worse over the last few days by sending someone up and thereby giving them oxygen.
There is an unpleasant, and quite frankly unsocialised discourse from a certain poster and an almost psychotic means of communication with other posters. there is no desire to find somewhere to chat, to interact or to improve the forum.
I think maybe you should consider whether it is worth one poster who has no interest in you, I or anyone else effectively distorting the forum and all you hope it might be at the expense of guys like legend.
Please do something.

Re: Going Going Gone
T_P, we could all ignore WUMs of course, but then LK was free to do that as well, rather than leaving, which is why I hope he reconsiders his decision.
There's no rule, I think, on this forum, or in life, about not being unpleasant, obnoxious and tiresome, but I do know that if a majority of people thought that about me, I'd change my ways. Some people actually seem to prefer it that way though. The standard psychological theories apply I suspect, though internet forum behaviour is a new area of the subject that I'm not fully up-to-date with.

In a democracy, all posters are equal, and all opinions carry equal weight. It is difficult to 'subjectively' single out one poster or the other, unfortunately.
Nore Staat wrote:Might I suggest a Big Brother style anonymous vote as to who gets voted out of the "house"?
That would still not prevent 'ganging' up on specific poster(s) named in such a poll, would it? Even naming a poster in such poll carries a stigma within the community, which is not fair, IMVHO.

legendkiller does have quite a combative style (eg wanting to "slap me silly" for expressing my views). Some posters may respond in a similar style (not that I agree). If you live by the sword, you may just die by the sword.

I am sorry Laver - and I take on board what Julius has said and Nore too - we can all band together and agree to ignore, but Legend has tried so hard over the last few days to engage Simple and to write many interesting posts - I tried continuing a conversation with barry on one of them and ignoring but it was relentless - spamming with malicious aforethought.
Give him some time out - I am not in favour of banning anyone, and I certainly am in favour of all opinions - but we are not talking about difference of opinion today, we are talking real rudeness to other posters and I fail to see why you as a mod cannot politely pull a post and invite Simple to rewrite it with the same views but addressing other posters with respect. If you feel a post is effectively spamming a thread then you could quietly invite him to choose which of his multiple posts he would like to remove or rework.
I reiterate - I don't want to see anyone banned, but you can and should use the naughty step a bit if you are going to have some say in how the fourm is conducted imo

The comedy of it. Legendkilla doesn't like taking peoples opinion. You see the problem is i take peoples opinions but unlike Legend who thinks his opinions are final, i always find ways to counter them should there be a need. Instead of holding the moral high ground here, why don't you take time out to investigate the interactions between Legend and I today. Oh wait, it will be inconvenient to your agenda so you won't.
Well he opened the morning with a thread calling Doha etc an ATP Masters, I of course pointed out that to him. He followed up on some "depth" theory about Borg's game compared to Nadal's. Of course i pointed out his many flaws and he ended the day writing an article crying about it hoping people like you join in to provide comfort. You really think i care about that? I debate my points, last time i went a bit over the top and i realised that. I give my opinions too and just because people like you, Time Please, feel they don't fit into what you want to hear, it's all gloomy from me. Hilarious actually. Did i insult Legendkilla? No. Did i insult you? No. So what seems to be the problem here? The old 606 did not have a thread every day for people crying about leaving. There were knowledgeable posters who left and came back without this sort of attention seeking. Leave my name out of this thread.

The challenge with "disrupt and ruin things" is the layers of complexity a language brings. Posters have viewpoints. The distinction between 'posters' and 'personas' can be a very thin line.
I do not want posters to leave, but at the same time, reasonable free speech must be upheld. Do you agree?

ps on a separate note: Can we please avoid mentioning members names in the "blame game" as it is bound to lead to responses (through "right to reply" principles) and escalation. Any differences of opinions, sleights and slurs should first be addressed on the specific thread in question between those involved. If the matter cannot be dealt with to the satisfaction of those involved and escalates, then if it is deemed that house rules are being broken (specifically or in spirit) can the matter then go through the process of PMs to the Moderator(s). This would allow the matter to be dealt with out of the public view through PMs between the Moderators and those involved.

Re: Going Going Gone
Laverfan as a moderator talking personal attacks, perhaps it is your duty to investigate who was attacking who. Well start from the FO Clones thread where the only presence of Amritia brought out insults from Legendkilla.
To be honest, i'm in the right spirit these days. Those days i use to just ignore threads like these
On a serious note may be you moderators can put up a complaints thread where matters will be judged for all to see.

Are you complaining on Amritia's behalf, or, did you report the post, or did Amritia report it?

Currently, there is no 'public' review process, but there is an ongoing discussion about publishing the decision process itself. House Rules play a clear and stated role in it.
Edit: May I suggest a PM discussion, if we need to discuss this further.

I quite agree with you Nore - and I apologise to all for not dealing with in the way you suggest.

Just a word of advice lk if you are reading this. Take a few weeks out and on returning post strategically and try not to raise to the bait of those looking for something other than tennis discussion. Give it a try and you might find it works and in the meantime sample the water elsewhere in other tennis forums to keep your tennis intellect toned up. Hope to see you back here soon.

Re: Going Going Gone
Tennis forums or any internet forum is not for the feint hearted.
You have dialogue with a so called expert who has access to a keyboard, nobody knows who he/she is and sometimes its probably better that you don't!
I personally have given up posting on a regular basis because of limitations on time. However I do have a look at the various forums and occasionally get the odd good bit of info as well as a laugh at some of the comments.
What is evident is that a few people spend in my opinion an "unhealthy" amount of time on some of these forums which honestly I think is bad.
If you give it out in the case of wumming then you have to be prepared to accept it back.
This isn't the first time legend has left and probably won't be the last, however a break away from this particular forum wont do any harm.
The fact that this site is seen by some as Federer orientated (most other followers seem to have left) does make it open for attack by those who dislike him and providing the poster in question keeps within the rules then he is entitled to his or her opinion and there is nothing you can do apart from the obvious - don't respond!

Re: Going Going Gone
v2 is getting better not worse. We have excellent posters here and that's all we should care about. I agree it was a mess before Xmas but it has improved since.
The internet is a huge source of information. Some excellent some terrible. 606v2 is no different. If anything, it's on average much better.
I am not going to list all the great posters here, there are too many. If I wanted to list the trouble makers it would be a very subjective short list and I am in no illusion that I'd make that list for some other posters.
The fact is out of all the forums created out of 606's collapse, I don't think any has had such a success. There is nowhere else to go afa I know.

Some of you need a reality check. If face to face would you spurt half the crap on here? No.
Some people need to learn what 'debate' means before actually having the nerve to use such a word!

ive only posted on the tennis section a handful of times, even though im a big tennis fan, and keen player...however
it would be sad to see this section end up the way the golf section did, with people leaving and getting banned etc... vast majority of people on here are supposed to be adults, its a place to debate sport, and tennis in specific on this section....
