Thoughts?

Yes, the talent coming through at United is so weak and poor that they have to keep signing veteran players till they are of pensionable age. Why hasn't Fergie brought another crop of fledglings through yet? It's been 15 years since the last group.

Youth used to be an integral part of United. Now they just chuck money at shoddy foreign talent.

Hasnt been anywhere near his best. Couple of my friends are season ticket holders and think he should retire. Very worrying for UTD that they have had to resign Scholes and keep Giggs going because they have a poor midfield.

Yeah they're both rubbish aren't they? It not like both have just took part in one of the biggest games in the English calendar and helped run the game is it....oh wait

At the end of the day if they're still good enough what difference does age make?

Don't think i've met a single United fan who has come to that conclusion? Even at the age of 38 he can boss games.

More like they have a lot of injuries but even still it says a lot about the other players when the 2 best midfielders are mid to late 30's. Don't think it will worry any fans if United go on and win the title though.

Think Scholes coming back is the bigger worry but age is just a number, if they can still do the business that's all that matters.

Giggs is second in the assists table despite not being able to play 90 minutes every week. He is still performing at a high level.

Ferguson has produced lots of players through the academy system since the 'fledglings', oshea, brown, Evans, fletcher, welbeck to name a few may not be stars but have made important contributions to trophy winning campaigns.

You will never see another batch of fledglings as the academy system and reserve team football has been destroyed by the fa, a system in which it cost more for Kieran richardson at 16 years of age than it did for fabregas and which we could have signed only scholes from that great batch.
