Just seen Montpelier have signed Rene Ranger, which is interesting. At 25 and in good form now and last year, thought he would want to push for ABs, but guess a couple of rich years and back in time for next WC makes sense

Be surprised with that one. I really like Ranger but his defence is suspect at the top level and I think thats what kept him out of the AB set up. I thought he'd try and battle it out though tbh.

Predictions

Ewill try to do mine through the day, on mobile atm so will wait till I make it back to the office!!

Not sure Rangers defence is as bad as people make out. Makes his tackles and is a strong boy. I prefer him at 13 than on the wing to be honest as he has unbelievable handling skills and a fantastic step. You want him in the game and on the ball as much as possible really.

One on one Ranger is fine, it's his concentration that seems to go wandering. I really like him but I don't think he'll ever nail an AB jersey. Not that this should should define a player mind.

I like him as well, but off the top of my head I'd have Jane, Guildford, Toeava, Gear all ahead of him for a wing spot, with SBW and Kahui also covering there better then him.

Guildford has a lot to prove for me. Not been really tearing it up for Crusaders so far this season. Toeava is a powerful pacy player, but lacks something for me, and I don't really see SBW as a winger. Jane is class though, as is Kahui.

Don't think Guildford he anything to prove on the pitch, it's his attitude that's the issue. One of my favourite players when on form, just glides past people

Not been gliding past people so far this season. Needs to rediscover his form for me.

I like Kahui, bit of an all rounder.

Guildford I'm not so sure of, actually prefer Maitland. Gear seems to be getting into a bit of form lately but another who floats in and out of games. Jane is quality, very clever player.

I saw Masaga made one of the SH websites Super Xv team of the week. I watched the Chiefs game and he played ok, but he has no awareness of what is around him. He made 2 superb breaks, where if he had just got his head up he would have seen he had support to offload to and they would have walked in tries on both occasions, but he tried to go alone and butchered both chances.

I get the feeling that some of the SH journalists equate being quick to being good in relation to wingers, but I prefer a bit more intelligence and all round game to be honest.

Exactly the same on Masaga, great finisher but a little headless. Kind of gets in the way sometimes.

6-9 months ago when Guildford was in immense form you were saying the complete opposite! I remember because i had a choice of both for foreigns and went for Maitland, then you kept saying he was a weakness in my Sarries team!
