First topic message reminder :

Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.

The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Tommy Bowe, Ryan Jones, Dan Newton and birthday boy Prop above the bar.

Blydi delay posting on this phone steam

Being as old as I am, Jan Akkerman (Focus lead guitar) won top guitarist of the year back in the 70s. Feiced if I know what year though. Would be guessing 73/74 ish.

Story lads? Yep. Missus Zippy was a Clog band.

They have far better jazz than pop/rock bands. At all levels. I love Dutch Jazz. Dutch pop/rock music itself, it total and utter shoite. Makes diddle-dee-dee Paddy music, sound great. Thats how bad it is.

I miss this guy bad. Had pints with him in the Red Lion in Putney once. Out of our hids.

Genius. He was a latter-day poet for the workin and thinkin man.

Can't check that either Gibbo.

Akkerman was an an excellent jazz/fusion guitarist as well. I remember the 'daddy' of all the soul and jazz funk DJs (Robbie Vincent) playing one of his tracks...music When I got here in July music

I'm sure the next line ended 'reason why'.

Sorry - rambling now. Smile

I've juswt posed a question on another thread but in researching that question I stumbled across this Film Quote and I just love it:

"My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius, Commander of the armies of the North, General of the Felix legions, loyal servant to the true Emperor, Marcus Aurelius. Father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife. And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next."

Shhet! I posted a durty version of Plaistow Patricia instead of this. Better delete that, or Mrsp will faint in de mornin...

This is the one. This is for our Hound. Ale

Our Farnham, who art in Hendon
Harrow be Thy name.
Thy Kingston come; thy Wimbledon,
In Erith as it is in Hendon.
Give us this day our daily Brent
And forgive us our Westminster
As we forgive those who Westminster against us.
And lead us not into Thames Ditton
But deliver us from Yeovil.
For Thine is the Kingston, the Purley and the Crawley,
For Esher and Esher.
Crouch End.

Excellent Gibbo, though I suspect the bould hound was orf before he got to read it.

These need airing again (and again) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NduKrNAZp4I&feature=related
In the deserts of Sudan
And the gardens of Japan
From Milan to Yukatan
Every womans, every man

Hit me with your rhythm stick
Hit me, hit me
Je t'adore, ich leibe dich
Hit me, hit me, hit me
Hit me with your rhythm stick
Hit me slowly, hit me quick
Hit me, hit me, hit me

In the wilds of Borneo
And the vineyards of Bordeaux
Eskimo, Arapaho
Move their body to and fro

Hit me with your rhythm stick
Hit me, hit me
Das ist gute, ce fantastique
Hit me, hit me, hit me
Hit me with your rhythm stick
It's nice to be a lunatic
Hit me, hit me, hit me

Hit me, hit me, hit

In the dock of Tiger Bay
On the road to Mandalay
From Bombay to Santa Fey
Over hills and far away

Hit me with your rhythm stick
Hit me, hit me
c'est ce bon, mm? Ist es nicht
Hit me, hit me, hit me
Hit me with your rhythm stick
Two fat persons, click click click
Hit me, hit me, hit me

Hit me, hit me, hit me
Hit me, hit me, hit me
Hit me, hit me
Hit me, hit me, hit me
Hit me, hit me, hit me
Hit me, hit me
Hit me, hit me, hit me

Sorry PJ Very Happy

Quote from McGlock after our defeat tonight.

“We’re leaving here with a bonus point so that’s some consolation. It shows you how far we’ve come that we can come to a place like this and be very, very disappointed not to come home with more. But we have to learn - we will get on the training paddock this week and make sure we are back on form for Ospreys next weekend.”

Not a bad repost!
