WBC scoring
Do you agree with public scoring of fights after 4 and 8 rounds?
I dont as it takes the drama away at the end of fights.
Having said that, I'd be interested to see how the judges scored the Pernell/Ramirez fight as it was ongoing.

Re: WBC scoring
Don't like it at all, personally. As you say, it takes away any potential intrigue in how the judges have seen the fight, and can perhaps even effect the fighters as the bout is ongoing. I wish the WBC would knock that particular idea on the head - but then again, that would mean common sense prevailing, so I think we can safely say that's the last thing which will happen.

Re: WBC scoring
It also has another more positive effect too.
1. If a fighter is behind (but still close), it could spur him on to keep going and giving that extra bit of effort.
2. It could save lives - if a boxer is on the end of a 8 round beating, why continue to take damage? Not popular for fans but good for the sport.
3. It would also to some extent help with dodgy results.

Agreed (dont take that personally). Thankfully only the WBC do that. Out of interest, they didn't do it in the Ward/Froch fight or many other WBC fights I've seen.

There's pros and cons for having it, but the boxer at the end of an 8 round beating should be pulled out by his corner. They dont need official confirmation that their charge is getting a beating.
As for the dodgy results, I agree.

Re: WBC scoring
I hate it myself. It has too much influence on the fighters performance potentially. They have enough to be focusing on in there.

I'll second that.

I don't think they allow the scores read out in America.

Do they allow it in the UK?

Re: WBC scoring
I can see the benefits but for me there are too many negatives. If we had open scoring in the Campillo vs cloud fight would it have changed the result? Perhaps if Campillo knew he was behind could he have gotten a KO knowing he needed one? For me the main reason I'm against it is if a guy knows he his a few rounds up it encourages running away at the end like amateur boxing.
Also Paul Smith made a good point on this during the Chisora fight when asked about the open scoring, he said if a boxer is ahead on the cards his corner could let him take to much punishment if he does get in trouble hoping he could just hold on and hear the final bell instead of just pulling him out when they normally would.

Re: WBC scoring
Hate it personally, the WBC is rarely in Germany though
It adds more excitement if you don't know, it can also ruin the fight if someone is losing after the 8th.

Hope they sacked the guy on Saturday. How hard is it to remember to announce the scores after 4 and 8. One job mate, one job and you can't get it right.

Re: WBC scoring
Didn't the WBC do it for the Chavez Jr vs Rubio fight in Texas? (not publicly but to the corners).
Despite the fact that it isn't generally allowed by state commisions too?
Probably has something to do with Chavez Jr being the God-Son of the WBC head though...
