Sadly my local club is going through some real stress at the moment, We are being forced to sell our most treasured possession an All Black jersey from the 1905 tour match against the All Whites. Any rich kiwis who would like a piece of their history back?

If you trace anything back far enough, It's Simon Cowell's fault IMO.

Very sad to see a club being forced to sell a prized possesion such as this but judging by all said here and the article it looks like the right choice to keep the club afloat. All the best with it Tycroes!

Just a quick update,the club has received several offers,some from NZ, while interest has also been expressed from US and Oz. as well as from Wales,I'm not sure if I am allowed to say what the offers are at this stage but will update as and when. (excess of £10k)

For kiwi viewers it looks like this story airs on close up which is on tv one in a few minutes.
Will update if it is.

Lovely bloke clive hanham appeared for the tycoes club on our close up.
Seems Owen Glenn- new 50% owner of the warriors NZ Sole NRL entrant offered the 10,000 pounds and the club could keep the jersey. (I did mention earlier that that might happen).

But since then another Kiwi- anonymous- has upped the offer to 15,000 lbs.

So Clive said if the person with the original offer can go home and sell the family car theyd reconsider! All in a very humble jest of course.

Wonderful story tycoes...nice fulla that Clive. No doubt you know him...(or are him! ...shhhh)

Tycroes, looks like your club will either way get a positive result out of this and I’m rapt for you and your club. Taylorman mentioned Owen Glenn had put in an offer and the club could still keep the jersey – the guy is a billionaire so you’ve piqued the interest of the right type of people (the ones with money!).

I’m thrilled that a little tip has gone a long way to helping.

I’ll PM you the email address of the bloke at stuff.co.nz who released the original story in NZ, if you want to keep them up to date with a auction details etc.

Anyone wishing to make a bid or donation should notify the club via events@tycroesrfc.co.uk.

Due to the potential offers made so far by a couple of very generous benefactors, it may be possible for the club to resolve their current financial situation and still keep ownership of the jersey and put it on secure display somewhere where the general public will be able to view it.

Following some discussion, the committee of Tycroes RFC have decided that the final date for accepting bids (or donations!) for their 1905 New Zealand “Originals” rugby jersey by E-Mail (via events@tycroesrfc.co.uk) will be 23 March 2012. . Following that date, the committee will decide on how to proceed.

Good luck with the fundraising had a few pints in the Tycroes club house over the years and always had an excellent welcome .

A couple of days ago I was so disgusted and disappointed with some folks on this place that I wasn't sure if it was worth continuing with.

I came across this a day or so after it was posted and have been following it ever since.
