I thought the black and white guys fought a lot more often, but JJJ only had 23 fights over 15 years.

Makes today's greats look prolific.

Boxing was barely legal in his day Union, he had a number of fights postponed, cancelled or rescheduled three or four times due to the logistical problems of actually holding a fight. To be fair to him his career isn't really 15 years either, his actual career was nine years, he was happily retired for six years and pretty much was press ganged into coming back for the Johnson fight, so would be fairer to describe his career as 22 fights over 9 years, which doesn't sound half as bad.

Looking at the final fight against Jack Johnson, why is the ref allowing him to barely get off the floor before Jack smashes him aroud the ring again?! I presuming that may have been the rules back in 1910?!?

Oddly - I always forget about the Jeffries win when counting the amount of footage of Fitzsimmons' career that I've seen. Perhaps because I'd rather pretend it had never happened.
