I released Adam Rossington last week - he's very young, but is a keeper/batsman who opened at least once in T20 for Middlesex last year

Gregers/Sainty we did discuss setting up a "reserve" pool of players for people to temporarily draft in in the event of something like that happening a while back.

It's alright Solanki can keep, he did in the world T20's a couple of years ago anyway.

just out of interest, how are you generating these injuries. Randomly for each player, or is there a fixed number of injuries per round?

Randomly per player. So the number of injuries will vary each week - in testing it fluctuated from 4-11%.

I'm happy to email the spreadsheet if you want to take a look (it is a 10mb zip file unfortunately).

Week 2 is up. The 1 in 400 chance has cropped up, and Patrick Cummins' injury from last week hasn't healed, sorry Gregers.

Durham and Notts get away scot-free this week.

not a lot of injuries this week in general. I'm delighted to get away scot-free, but I suspect the law of averages will catch up with me sooner rather than later. Somerset have a couple of important players out in Morkel and Tait, while Leicestershire lose both their overseas spinners (though with the pitch a seamer's paradise this may not matter so much). And obviously Steyn out is a blow for Sussex.

having sidebottom out is a blow for my team, however it depends on pitch and conditions as well lol.

Yep, a 6.6% injury rate this week, last week we came in at around 9% from memory. The law of averages is a funny thing.

I've lost one probable starter (and my club captain) in Dexter (I need to recruit a back-up English middle order bat), though Rayner at least is only my back-up English spinner, and probably 4th choice spinner overall, so I've done better this week than my opponents. And Guptil is back in .

Cummins again and Tahir out. Kartik to come in. At least Jade and Woakes are fit now tho!

I haven't had an injury at all for the first two weeks. Probably partially down to my smaller squad, but as a scientist I get the horrible feeling the law of averages is going to catch up to me and hit me hard soon...

Morkel and Tait is a bit gutting but im sure i will get 1 week where injuries are kind to me.....

Admittidly neither have bowled much at Taunton so maybe its better to have guys bowling who have that experience.

The Taunton pitch we've drawn sounds like a bit of a road, so it may not matter too much who's bowling on it!

Week 3 is up. Ryan Sidebottom, Neil Dexter and Moeen Ali have not recovered from last week.

Shane Watson (mutter mutter) and Kevin Pietersen are the notable names injured.

My first injuries! Devastation. I really should be able to cope without Wood and Adams though. I am sure my good luck is going to come back and bite me and some point though...

Pre-season we discussed letting people "borrow" players from the released list - as long as they cost less than the injured player.

Basically yeah, the number given to kiwi this week was 582963, he plugs that into the spreadsheet and it generates injuries

To be honest mate I dunno how it works you will have to ask Kiwi as I don't have a clue

Basically each week every player has a 1 in 15 chance of missing the match through injury. I have a spreadsheet with a humungous list of pseudorandom numbers in it, and the random number "seed" people give me each week picks a group of pseudorandoms out, and matches them to the player list.

Sainty also has a copy of the spreadsheet, and the beauty of the system is that given the same "seed" number we will get the same results out.

It means your bench can be really tested.

Not impossible, there is a 0.04% (1 in 2,500) chance of 3-in-a row happening. And technically (thanks to the laws of probability) there is a 1 in 15 chance he'll be out, same as every week

Oh got my fingers crossed then. Hopefully I'll be able up to get some players in from the auction to cover things

Oh God, I thought my injuries were bad but then I saw Sussex's!

David Hussey obviously hasn't recovered from his knock last week and is still yet to get back to full fitness. Alex Hales will be a big loss, as an quality U25 Englishman is tough to replace and if only I had signed another quality South African keeper in the Auction today...

just Stokes out for me, a bit of a blow but should have enough to cover for him. Wade may get a debut...
