Pre-season
Well the first pre-season match started today against Middlesex. They managed to get the full 100 overs in which is very impressive, from the looks of it a good day to bowl with Surrey all out for 210 and Middlesex 113-5 in reply. RHB and Maynard both looked good for scores of 30 odd and Jewell did very well to end on 48*. On the bowling front Meaker took 2 early wickets and Batty 2 late ones with his 'mystery ball'. Sounded like a very good days cricket.

Re: Pre-season
Another good day today as the game ended in a draw. Middlesex were all out for 192 with Batty taking 4-16, Meaker 3-38, Linley 2-29 and Jewell 1-20. Encouragingly Mark Church said on Twitter that Jordan had been bowling and looked very good.
Surrey then declared on 139-5 with Maynard again getting a good 30 odd along with Wilson before Middlesex batted for the last hour where Newman scored 43 of their total of 46-0 at the close.
A decent run out all round by all accounts.

Yes, also encouraging to hear that Meaker is getting off to a good start. I'm nervous about our openers and would like to see either Brown or Lancefield put a few runs on the board.

Yeah, me too. Brown will take a while after such a long time out and we also will need a solid number 3 while Ramps is out - hopefully Roy isn't going to be batting there when the season starts for real because he definitely isn't ready.

Re: Pre-season
Day 1 of the second pre-season match against Hampshire was rained off with Surrey on 4-0. Wilson was opening with Brown, interestingly.

Interesting opening pair indeed. I wonder whether Harinath has been written out of the script as a possible opener for the time being? He started off quite well in that position last season but then his performances tailed off and he was dropped, presumably in the hope that he might regain form in the 2nd team.

Re: Pre-season
It does seem that Harinath has dropped down the pecking order, he just was never able to convert his numerous good starts into large scores.
Today Roy (92*) and Maynard (62*) batted very well and took Surrey to 223-2 declared before the Viscount took 3 wickets, Meaker 2 and Jordan 1 as Hampshire ended the match on 115-6. A thoroughly encouraging day's play I would say.

Excellent news all round, Carrotdude. More of the same is needed.

Re: Pre-season
Well I thought we would be strong in the one day format so it was great to see us muster a mighty 111 all out against Derbyshire.

Re: Pre-season
Yeah yesterday was pretty terrible but today has been even worse, 105 all out with Notts currently 305-4 in reply. Maynard did well to get 57* but that's about it. I suppose they are the CC champs and we don't have Meaker, Dernbach or Tremlett bowling but it's still pretty rudey poo.
They ended 355-6. Jewell took 3 wickets, I guess that's a plus.

Re: Pre-season
Hopefully we are getting our bad performances out of the way but they have started to depress me abit and the season isn't even here yet. Anyway weather looks good for friday so lets get off to a good start!
