Let's see if Tigers can beat us at the Stoop (well, they can, and I think they will, but they've got to do it and they've got to take the game seriously to do so) and continue getting and denying us valuable bonus points before we assume they get 1st place.

I'm not assuming anything CJ, I believe that Tigers will beat you this weekend and get a TBP.

To top the table we need to beat you and Bath and rely on Sharks getting a result in round 22.

Re: The Jeff run-in
Or you can beat us and hope we don't get any BPs whilst getting your own, then it doesn't matter if Quins beat Sale (which I'd hope we do)

Re: The Jeff run-in
We are on 65 points, so even with two TBP wins can only get to 75pts. (And 15 wins)
If you then beat Sale (even with no bonus pts) you have 75pts (and 17 wins).

I can see them beating us but can not see a tbp. We've only given away one tbp all season, to Sale randomly! (And tbf we still won and scored 6 of our own).

Leicester v Bath, 14:00
London Irish v Gloucester, 14:00
Northampton v Worcester, 14:00
Sale v Harlequins, 14:00
Saracens v Exeter, 14:00
Wasps v Newcastle, 14:00
Teams in bold are my predicted winners
Team in bold italicised would be TBP predictions
And I'm completely wimping and fudging it on the Sarries v Chiefs game. I haven't a clue although I'd prefer an away win.

Re: The Jeff run-in
Can't see either of the top two losing, so they look set in those positions (if Tigers level Quins on points due to gaining a BP win where Quins fail to, Quins will still top due to number of wins). It doesn't matter if Sarries win or not, they've sewn up third and will face Tigers. The greater uncertainty would be who has to face Quins, but the fixtures definitely favour Saints and I'd be surpised if they didn't make it.

Re: The Jeff run-in
Hmmm.... Quins don't have a great track record with Friday night away games oop North, and Sale will be going all out for a win to secure Heineken rugby next season. I still think Quins have enough to win, but a slip-up is not out of the question. I'd feel so much better if we'd taken 1 or 2 bp from Saturday's game.

Well, Sale will obviously be confident after beating Gloucester but I am hoping for a Quins backlash for letting that lead slip

Portnoy....rubbish...
We will; beat wasps....but due to an absolute knacker at 10 we wont get the bonus point win so will not survive relegation.
If gold had been in since the start instead of 'Alan i couldnt manage a p-up in a brewery Tait' we wouldnt even be in this situation.
Big changes with Deano in next season....

Re: The Jeff run-in
Gold signed him for another 2 years didn't he? Richards will be taking over. The best he could do if he want rid would be to say he isn't in Richards plans and give him the opportunity to seek employment elsewhere. If nothing doing then just don't play him and take the hit (don't most players have most of their money in appearances?)

I'm pretty sure Gold extended his contract. It's possible it was done before he came on board.
NB Looks like it was Gold

GF. I went on home advantage
Also you are right. Deano will bring great changes to the Falcons next season.
Plus who knows how the season will pan out for the Wasps. All could be lost on the field of commerce rather than the rugby pitch.

Come on Sale and come on Tigers!
Wasps vs Falcons - don't know who to support in this one. On the one hand Falcons have provided Tigers with some fine players (cheers!) but the first team is now increasingly foregin (1 Englishman in the backline?) where as Wasps are giving lots of young English players game time. Newcastle are playing a dull kicking game which is a pale immitation of Sarries tactics but just as boring where as Wasps are at least keen to run the ball and score tries. Then again Wasps are the DAMN PESTS who ruin everything given the opportunity where as Falcons normally secure us a steady amount of points. Hmmm....

Sam, Tait chose the route of the foreigners over the conveyor belt of local talent, something i think Deano will correct very quickly...and we have a bunch of talented kids coming through again.
Also...dont expect to keep enticing players away now that we have a real top recognised coach...and we come back up and start performing.

Today I was thinking of my youth and it reminded me of two of the best pieces of public art I have seen. Both at Civic Centre- Tyne - showing you which way you are going and that swans alighting one which is gobsmackingly inspirational.
Hang on I'll get the pics...

The 'your going down' sculpture looked much better when it had the water running off it - but they switched it off - hence the brown stains (hard water up here).
