Carrying on with a similar theme with Tenez's article on wimbledon grand slam winners.
I wanted to ask you 606v2 peeps how far you can go back in terms of the winners of the davis cup.
Personally I am useless at this one and can only go as far back as 2003, the year i became a tennis fan :P

So that's USA in 1978. Sorry but my mind's gone blank since then. Didn't realise we were still playing in it!

Isn't this the sort of thing that Google was invented for? Or is more the point to be able to recall the type of match played?

2009 should be Spain. CZE was whitewashed 5-0, IIRC.

2000-2003 - Should have Hewitt's Aussies somewhere. Did they win in 2003 and were RUs in 2001-2002.

Safin's Russians in 1999-2000, perhaps.

Sweden should be in there in the 90s.

Stich's GER should be in the 1990s.

Argentina has not won a DC yet, IIRC.
