Gutted! That's such a shame - especially as I was in the Scarlets shop the other day and the guy who worked there had said Iestyn had been around a bit and looked perfectly fit - so it got my hopes up that he'd be ok.

Damn. All the best to a great guy and the cornerstone of our pack for many a season. See ya Iestyn

Another Welsh front row forward. Gutted for him, one of the most under rated players in Europe. Has been kept out of the Wales team by Gethin and poor selection for a number years. Will no doubt become a coach and hopfully help to develop Rhodri Jones and the other front row tallent emerging out West.

Absolutely gutted to hear Iestyn has had to retire. He has been a real grafter for us, and I wish him all the best for the future

The Argus article on Rhys Thomas is a tough read, especially the bit about him being scared he wouldn't see his children again.

Gutted for Rhys T as well He's been really great for us this season. Wish him all the best on his continued recovery.

Very disappointed for Rhys, I saw him walking around the ground last weekend, and he looked back to his normal self, cheeky grim etc. A real shame for him, as IMO he was unarguably the second best tighhead Wales had this season. All the best to him too.

Very harsh on Rhys T, such a shame particularly after how well he was playing. It's scary reading how close he came to dying, but glad he's taking it slowly and going to recover properly before thinking about something else coaching or whatever.

Terrible for the Scarlets and even worse for both props. I feel for them. Best of luck for the future.

I Thomas should have had more caps, he was one of the guys who gets capped early on in their career and never seem to get a chance later on when they are better players through experience. Iestyn really fitted into the Scarlets way of playing showing great skill and mobility as well as strength. Happy retirement as a player and good luck.

Wow Scarlets prop crisis just got worse. Hope they bring in someone decent as replacement. obviously best wishes to the players as well...
