Can be a difference maker off the bench and had some decent games lately.

But Downing? Somebody's gonna need a damn good explanation for that. Adam Johnson barely played and contributed far more than Downing. Hell statistically I contributed as much to Liverpool as Downing this year.

I just don't see what he's ever done to deserve such consistent selection even when on form.

I think Walcott should be used as a substitute. We saw what he can do with his pace in the latter stages of games against Liverpool a couple of years back, he's not consistent enough to start on the right from the start, so should be used off the bench.

I agree Downing should be nowhere near the squad, Lennon/Johnson would have been a better option.

would have taken struddige over him, gives you better options when rooneys banned also. think the starting front three will be young, wellbeck and walcott. just cant see him playing a flat 442 we'll get battered. especially if lampards in the one of the cm spots.

as for downing, oxide, walcott, young and even milner are above him for me. totally pointless spot in squad because anyone with any sense wouldnt have him near the squad let alone first team, over to you roy!!

matyr he has done it for england in qualifying, he has done it v barca, v totenham ,v united. well he does done it plenty - good sub and could be a good starter, very underated player by fans. Infact from what i have heard in mainland europe- most rival fans think walcott is by far one of our best players
