Hopefully, but I am beginning to worry that Catterick isn't going to get a chance. He's been on the fringe of the squad for a few years, without ever really getting a chance. I have suspected for a while that he would end up as a fullback rather than Fly half and it seems to me that it is fly half or broke for him now.

I confess i know absolutely squat about him....aside from he's played at 3 world cup finals aparently...not bad for a 26yr old.

I would certainly hope the 10 spot is shared amongst him and Catterick.

Richards must see something in him though...cant imagine the club signing him without Deanos approval....

I know very little about him either other than his previous clubs, fingers crossed that he will fit into the long term plans.

Theres always the alternative Cumbrian...that catterick just isnt good enough and wont quite make it. I would have thought he would have been getting there by now.

Though Miller is showing his skills for Sale now at FB..

It's a fair point Geordie, but I would like to see him get a fair crack of the whip before he's ruled out.

Surely now is the best time to trial the young guys and if possible forge them into a working unit so that when the take the step up to the AP the structure and style of play is already well established. On promotion add a couple of quality players and you should be ready.

That's in an ideal world of course.

I do think one way or another Catterick will get some chances at 10 this season. Then we will know for ourselves where is he by his performances.

Im confident the lad has the ability.

I think there will be a number of the academy guys getting games this season. Some of the second rows..front rows etc...just to get a taster even.

And Joe Robinson!

It's funny actually, I recognise the relationship he describes between Cumbria and the Falcons. It was well cultivated when I was a kid. Good to see it is being kept up.

Interesting that Catterick see's himself as more of a 10 this season so Jimmy is pretty much nailed on at 15.

Waisea Luveniyali played for us in the season we got to the Playoffs, he's a good option covering multiple positions. Maybe a good less straight-forward 12 to swap around with Fitzpatrick?

Yeah Nathan Morris looked something good...but i have quite high hopes for McGuigan...big lad...and he's getting some good reviews last season...lets hope he can step up.

I really am optimisitc about the next few years...Deano has a good record of brining through the youngsters...

Geordie, it's not unusual for academy players to jump between clubs early on. I noticed a Tigers flanker who was given his debut in last seasons LV Cup against Quins scored against Tigers for Sales in the 7s tournament. There's also the speedster Charlie Walker down at Quins who was a Tigers academy product that decided he wanted to be in the capital.
