Fighters we all REALLY like!

Lets be honest, boxing fans are Catty. We b**h and moan and call fighters names, but there are some we all like. So who are they?

Now, I don't mean EVERYBODY in the literal sense. But in general, who are some fighers we all really apprecaite for whatever reason.

I'll mention a couple

Glen Johnson - who has a bad word to say about this man? No one.
Michael Katsidis - Never an excuse, just laces up and goes for broke.


Fighers we can all get behind are rare, but they do exist.

So who else are there. We'll call them the HumanWindmill's of the fight game; people you would have to be an arse, not to appreciate.

I don't dislike any particular fighter. I realise that most of the talk is hype. Those I have little time for are the holier than thou types and the so-called humble guys.

Everyone should like Groves though. He should hype himself a little more.

I do dislike certain fighters who lets be honest put money first before honour.

The fighters I do apprecaite are fighters such as Johnson and Katsidis because they are not the glamour boys of the sport but still are willing to take on anyone, anywhere.

Johnson reminds me of the old mongoose. Obviuosly not the smae in the skill department but both were basically shunned by the money makers of the sport but stuck it out because they knew they had what it takes to beat all comers.

Other than either ONETWO or Steffan (can't remember which but I'm pretty sure it's one of them) you don't get any Cotto haters. He's even more popular across the pond.

Of course one universally liked, non controversial figure we've all missed out is Derek Chisora. Affectionately known as Del Boy.

With warriors like Pryor, Gatti, Ward, pretty much every boxing fan has alot of time for them, simply because they provide so much entertainment. Based on personality, I dont think anyone has a bad word to say about Ricky Burns.

Can't say a bad word about him either. Lovely bloke. Very humble. Adds to the reason why only few hard-core fans and members of his family have heard of him.

I can't argue with that. For all that's good about him he does lack a certain "star quality". And although I don't know him, I reckon he's fine with that.

Ricky Burns is a gent too. Good call

Always liked Mosley. Never boastful, always respectful and had some entertaining fights.

think most people like morales??? i know i certainly do.

dont like burns as a fighter, i think frank has set him up with some nice fights that suit him, but if he hadnt been the home fighter against martinez and katsidis then surely he wouldnt hav gotten away with his constant spoiling tactics. as a person we dont know him, its easy to assume quiet guys are gents, but hes definately got a nasty streak in him, just watch his round against cook. he looked like the cat who got the cream finally being able to open up on a guy once he knew he was a cripple

Thing with Morales is he has that most bitter of rivalries, so MAB fans - although of course massively respect him - also might see him as kind the enemy of their favourite. There's nothing about Morales I dislike, but as a Barrera fan I still don't really cheer for him that often. Odd as without each other they'd be lesser fighters.

pernell didnt get the big victories at the right time as flloyd, neither did he get the tv exposure. flloyds career has been much better managed out of the ring than pernells was

Floyd also helps his cause by making headlines. He's playing the game perfectly. Also helps he's a superb fighter. But he is not edge of your seat stuff. Ordinarily a boxer like him would not be the highest paid athlete, but he is. Talent plus mouth/attitude = $$$$$$$.

Talent and humble doesn't sell unless you have an exciting style. (Manny, Cotto).

calzaghe is extremely dull. He has nothing to say and I don't think he ever has said anything vaguely interesting in any interview I've ever seen. Conversations with him are always so forced. I also think he needs some kind of purpose in life.

met calzaghe at a guns n roses gig couple of years ago, he was pretty wasted and full of it. wouldnt say hes a dull guy but i dont think hes comfortable in the spotlight when out of the ring

I have to say this, and Steffan won't believe it. But I really like Lucian Bute. What a complete professional he has been in the run up to this fight. Genial, classy

frank bruno, maidana, paulie maginalia (or however you spell it)

he attitude towards fighting cant be knocked. i recon theres a few fighters would love a shot at his titles at the moment.

I like Paulie. I hear he might be getting his own reality show should be a good watch.

No one dislikes Foreman do they? Also most fans have really taken to Marquez in the last few years.

Tony Sibson allways gave it his best, seemed like a genuine guy too
