Stephen Ferris ruled out of Ireland tour to New Zealand
Ulster flanker Stephen Ferris has been ruled out of Ireland's summer tour to New Zealand with a calf complaint.

Ferris sustained the injury during the Heineken Cup final defeat by Leinster at Twickenham last weekend.

His place in the 29-man touring party will be taken by Leinster back row forward Kevin McLaughlin
Several positions in the squad will not be confirmed until after the game between Ireland and the Barbarians on Tuesday night.

A further prop, second row, back row and scrum-half will be added before the squad departs for New Zealand

Sad to see that Stephen wont be fit for the tour.

It is a shame, but probably for the best (for his recovery) in the long run. I hope he makes a full recovery for next season.

Thank goodness they are keeping Ferris out of NZ. He should never have been considered in the first place, he needs a major break from rugby.

It was a bit ridiculous that he was named in the squad for the BaBas.

Shame that 3 of our best players have been ruled out of the tour. Or is there any hope of O'Connell making it?
