Olympics Day 2

Day 2 - will we get our first medal? Adlington goes in the 400m freestyle and the hockey comps kick off today.

Great move by Pooley to get Armistead in the breakaway.

Arimtage and Vos are doing all the work here.

Holland and GB got names in the Pelaton too so there's a plan B too

Poor from the American for not taking her turn in helping the others at the front.

The heavy rain will help the leaders as well. Come on Armitage and Vos

The American has dropped off

The Dutch commentators are happy she has dropped off as well. She was not working or helping the other three.

Medals for the group then. Probs silver for us but depends who goes first at the end

Armistead is more than capable of putting Vos under huge pressure in a sprint. Gold and Silver for those two.

The Russian has to drop off. She is hindering Vos and Armistead.

Yeah but if they try with only 2 it's very risky. Better to keep her as they are still holding the pelaton

Its a risk worth taking i feel. Arimstead and Vos are clearly better and doing all the work anyways.

They aren't doing all the work- just having a windbreak is helpful and they know they should both beat her

She is not pulling them along so yes i feel that its Armistead and Vos doing the work. She only ever leads for a few seconds at a time.

Going to be a very interesting sprint finish. I have no idea about the Russians sprint qualities.

I am counting no chickens yet.

Still 15 km of wet roads to go ...and as we just saw someone nearly go down in the peloton , accidents can happen.

But it looks like the two favourites will fight it out...

She's clearly tired so I don't think she'll beat our girls. Wonder if they'll race early to lose her or back themselves in the sprint. With 10km to go, they could probably lose a rider about now if they felt like doing a little more in the wind

I think with around 5km to go we will see that they start having a go at eachother

I think they've got enough to stay away now, hopefully. Won't be long before the attacks start coming from Vos and Armitstead, don't think the Russian has it in her to separate them or she has played a very clever/underhand game so far! Come on Lizzie!

Pooley with a puncture, but she has done her job. She will have a great chance in the TT looking at her form today.

It's ok, Pooley's job was to set up Armisteade and she succeeded. Fantastic early race from her

Armistead put in a fantastic effort, no shame in losing to Vos. Silver for GB, that gets us going nicely.

Armistead will win this race next Olympics.

For me, Foxy was always going to win the race but Armistead showed a hell of a lot to keep with her and really push her all the way.

In Tennis, Murray is 1 set up and 4-2 up in the second set against Wawrinka. I think he'll get Gold at this Olympics, he's one of the best over the best of 3 sets format.

EDIT: Murray has won 6-4 6-3.

A lot of events happening tonight. Basketball GB men v Russia (20:30), Football Gb men v UAE (19:45), Handball GB men v France (19:30), Hockey GB women v Japan (19:00), Water Polo men v Romania (18:20). As well as Rebecca Adlington's final at 20:18.

British welterweight boxer Freddie Evans is up against Llyas Abbadi in the last 32 in a few minutes.

Freddie Evans won 18-10, it was a very good performance.

I just watched the replay. Brilliant performance and what support from the crowd, great stuff.

Rowing was great earlier, fantastic atmosphere, esp for team GB
