Olympics, Day 7 - Page 8 Empty Olympics, Day 7

Post by Dave. Thu 02 Aug 2012, 9:06 pm

First topic message reminder :

Getting this up early as I'm off soon.

A great day for us yesterday as we won three golds, taking our score to 5. We now sit 5th in the medal table and with any luck could sit in 3rd by the day is out.

The main event starts today as well, with the athletics kicking off at 10 with Jess Ennis.

AND COME ON ALAN CAMPBELL!

There were negatives but to be fair it was all from the gutter trash papers. London is doing an absolutely fantastic job. You know they are when even the gutter press cant find a negative right now Wink

Oh, and expect a great LJ from KJT tomorrow. She's the world junior champion in that event and capable of about 6.75-6.80!!

I am with eirebilly here, I have been reading this board since it started. 99% of JM's posts are wumming, most are anti Andy Murray.
But for some reason the mods on here will not ban the wums, just the people that complain about them, why do you think a lot of people have left?

Stunning day from team GB, you're a bunch of greedy basterds though, let some other countries have a few medals like. Some people think it's all about themselves......

If you don't agree with his posts, just ignore him. There is a foe button which I strongly insist you use if you want to avoid certain users.

Accusing people of being WUMs is against the rules, either attack the post, or ignore them.

I appreciate what you are trying to say, but JM hasn't broken any rules by possessing a view that other people don't like (I can't comment on the Andy Murray as I don't frequent the tennis board), you just need to ignore him.

Hope that clears things up.

2? Nevin and Taylor? Possible but would take 3/4 medals, would be a nice haul. Jumping on the Team GB bandwagon might have to be done yet.

Usually in US and Australia when you perform so much worse than your best in a final, you don't get picked again. Time for someone else to get the chance over Adlington, clearly needed to lose weight. Even if the next best 800 metre swimmer performs worse than Adlington, we need to look to the future.

Can you suggest a viable replacement for Adlington?

Well the second best long distance female British swimmer is the lovely Welsh girl Jaz Carlin but she is injured and has had to sadly miss this Olympics.

@Crimey, I was going to pm this to you, but I don't have enough posts.
If someone is accused of being a wum, should a mod not have a look at the posts? Go on the tennis forum and look at that persons posts.

I love my tennis, but will not post on there because of him/her and one other person, I know at least 3 other people that feel the same. Is it right that 2 people drive people away?

Dibaba destroys the Kenyans with a great last lap...salute !

Very creditable efforts from Pavey and Bleasdale , fair way down but seventh and eighth and still very good times.

Pity Kidane didn't get a medal - she did a lot of work for her team mate.

So Rebecca Adlington is using the "pressure" excuse for her short comings.

Nothing to do with the fact that she was totally annihilated then?

6 over 800 compared to 5 over 200 is a bit different.

And one of them is a female power event.

And one of those athletes came from a 'chinese training camp' where coaches have admitted administering testosterone to children up to the age of 15.

Nothing to do with the fact that she was totally annihilated then?

Did she say that personally?
I heard the pundits say that but never heard her say that.
She won a Bronze medal, she and the GB public can be dead proud Very Happy
If she was only 4th or 5th best pre-race than she should be proud of bronze. She was favourite and blew it, tactically struggled to get her plan in shape. 2008 has been and gone, and now Becky is losing to inexperienced 15 year olds.

I don't actually think you're a WUM at all. I just genuinely believe that you don't have the first idea about sport.

An inexperienced 15 year old who very nearly broke the world record.
It happens at times when the best laid plans fail. Adlington won 2 bronze medals, thats pretty damn impressive,

Why is that? Go broader. Maybe you only like seeing positive comments, in that case, you should put me on foe's. thumbsup

If I was a Chinese coach I would be, she took 6 seconds off her PB, compared to 5 for the Chinese girl.

6 over 800 compared to 5 over 200 is a bit different.

And one of them is a female power event.

And one of those athletes came from a 'chinese training camp' where coaches have admitted administering testosterone to children up to the age of 15.

Sorry I got the figures wrong, it was 35 seconds off, averaging out, a lot higher.

She did amazingly well. I may not like Ian Thorpe but i am not going to argue with him on such things as he is clearly more knowledgable on these things than i will ever be,
