Assuming he will be paired with McIlroy for the majority of his rounds and I would fancy him against anyone in singles.

By the way the interviews went before The Barclays yesterday it seems that both players and indeed the press are building up the momentum that Rory and Tiger will be sent out first in the singles and I can see Tiger being really pumped up for that and giving Rory a hiding.

Of course McIlroy wouldn't be pumped up at all would he?

Well of course they'd both be up for winning but with no majors this year against Rory's 2 in 2 years I think Tiger would have more of a point to prove to himself and the media.

Rory doesn't really have anything to prove at the moment whereas Tiger seems desperate to be accepted back into the big time. Not saying a singles victory would be the same as a major or anything like that but it will be on Tigers mind already that many are passing him over and annointing Rory as the new big star in golf. Any excuse to prove that wrong and he'll be desperate to win and show he's still a force to be reckoned with.

3 wins in a season is normally a career year for most guys - says a lot about Tiger that at the moment he's viewing it as a dissappointment.

I wouldn't give credit for Woods thinking that much. Pretty sure he'll see himself as the number one regardless of what people say. Besides, I'd fancy Rory to steamroller him. On a course set up for matchplay, it could easily catch out the weaker elements of Woods game.

I would have agreed with that assesment all day pre all the scandal.

Now it seems that Woods doubts himself just as much as most of the public do. Shoddy putting,scared of the driver, relying on a fade and awful weekends in Majors. I don't even think Woods could delude himself that much and think he is number 1.

I think fat , sweaty Jason Dufner will be the top American player. He's got a face for radio, but looks like a great player so far this year. Imagine him and Shane Lowry paired together. It would be like Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum.

Dufner is top notch.

Great temprement, seems suited for the Ryder Cup. Bit harsh on his appearance SR but I agree he's had a great year. Seems to compete in pretty much every tournament he enters.

temprement is still a bit questionable i think. hes been right in contention on sunday manytimes and only got the job done twice

I think his temperament is that he doesn't take it that seriously. He makes a great living and doesn't worry too much.

I like watching his game - he looks so chilled on the surface..if he was any more laid back, they'd be gelling up the paddles and shouting "Clear!"

I guess it's more his facial expressions that lead to most saying he has a great temprement.

He has a great poker face and shows no emotion whether he's making eagle or treble bogey.

Even when he closed his first tournament his emotion was kept to a bare minimum.

I went for Westwood, maybe he has a monty thing going on?

I went Colsaerts. Assuming he's selected. If he can beat his fellow Ryder Cup team mates to win the Volvo Matchplay title, then he can beat some Yanks.

I went McDowell. Befuddles the Americans into wondering how he gets the ball where he gets it with his swing. Then. Bang. Birdie, birdie eagle. Point in bag.

I think we should wait & see what the Captains picks are.

Tricky enough esp. as some of these guys aren't going to play in every game. Sergio for me - RC seems to bring out a lot of what's best about his game, he seems to be a bit more at ease with himself and his Wyndham win the other day should boost his confidence no end.

Sergio only "at ease" with himself when things are going Sergio's way..............a bit like a toddler................

I think we'll be unlikely to witness the petulant wee lost boy image during the RC. I said it before he qualified...the RC Sergio is a completely different animal to the tour stroke play Sergio. It was Monty inviting him to be a vice 2 years ago that turned him around, he was staring at golfing oblivion before CM. At CM you could see (I was there every day) that he was buzzing. He had slipped to about 85 in the world... since then he's risen back to the top 20. Despite what he might have said I still think a major is WELL within his grasp. WRT the Ryder cup, I think he'll do well but my personal vote goes to Poulter

If only a vc role could do the same for Casey... doubt it would. Garcia was a good pick last time as vc without considering the rehabilitation aspect (though i'm sure Monty would claim dual purpose in picking him) - not so sure Casey would be.

And your point is? I couldn't give a **** if he's only happy when he's playing well. Bit like most golfers really.
