And Mr Raonic is in great difficulty at the moment v Giraldo, which I called when I saw the draw. Early days yet.

Raonic in big trouble, two sets to one and a break down in the fourth. Giraldo is a talented ball striker but this would be a huge upset

oh...Goffin gets broken and Berdy is 4-3 up in 3rd set being 2 sets up. Tough 1st round draw for Goffin.

Judging by the online scoreboard this decider is interesting.

Raonic making a meal of another match that he should cruise through, what a surprise!

right old ding dong this one, but Giraldo may live to regret the chance he had in the fourth set.

Live streaming on Bet365 TSJ. I think you need to log in and deposit £5 in your account. No rules saying you have to bet though
It is a small screen though, haven't worked out how to maximise it yet.

Thanks. I'll get on that soon. If you have a small screen, you might have some sort of magnifying programme on your PC/laptop (if it's not a Mac) that helps those with sight problems.

15 DF's for Raonic but 30 aces. What can you tell from that? The serve was either brilliant or atrocious?

Keathavong getting crushed by kerber. I know there is a big difference in ranking but so one sided. I think keathavong is very average

I think Nalbandian has pulled out which lets Serra in to play Del Potro.

Johanna Konta took the first set 6-1, then she was 5-1 down in the 2nd but came back to win it 7-5. Well done!!

Re: US Open Day 2
A great win that for Konta. A big step forward in her career and means we have two British women in the Second Round.

Re: US Open Day 2
really good stuff from Konta
nice to see the Brits acquitting themselves pretty well in the women's draw. Keothavong a bit of a disappointment, but Watson didn't embarass herself and Robson took full advantage of (finally) a kind draw.

Re: US Open Day 2
Great to have two British women through to the second round, and Heather is still in the doubles, I believe?
Raonic does seem to have made a meal of it.....the trouble with these large guys is that the energy it must take to pump the blood around these big frames means that they seem to be doubly exhausted after five setters than your average 6' 2" tennis player - my money is on him to be ceremoniously dumped out in the second round, whoever he is playing (haven't checked that yet )

What a treat. Watched the Raonic match in full and now watching Monaco and Garcia-Lopez which is another 5 setter

Re: US Open Day 2
I just don't see where the multiple Slams are going to come from with Raonic
I think people see the serve and forehand and then tick the box marked 'slam winner'
Weapons alone are never enough

Yep! It's great. And I'm a big Konta fan
Well at least since she became British and won a slam match
I can't keep supporting Andy - and I must have some other poor Brit besides Heather and Laura to hang my hat on

Re: US Open Day 2
Raonic is still a work in progress. The guy is ranked 15 in the world at 21 years old. Remember many said the same of Andy when he was 21 and we are still waiting.

Monaco and Garcia-Lopez this last set just epic. 4 consecutive breaks of serve in this last set.

Re: US Open Day 2
Garcia-Lopez GSM. 3-6 1-6 6-4 7-6 7-6. Over 350 points played and 4 and a half hours on court. Sterling effort by both men

Re: US Open Day 2
Dolgopolov 'in the zone' last two sets. Can he push himself and win this in the fifth?
Quite a few 5-setters today.
PS: Dolgo up a double break. 4-1. Highly unlikely Levine can come back from here, but not over yet.

Djokovic didn't play well at all last night dunno what he's playing at or hoping to achieve. Dolgopolov looks unbeatable.

I think Laura has a good shot against Kim. She's really pushed some top players in slams but not managed to get over the line. One day it's just going to happen for her and it could be tonight.

Re: US Open Day 2
Don't think it will happen against Kim, but I have high hopes for Robson as she has a big serve and real power.
What's needed now is better fitness, better concentration and experience and I think they are all things that will come.
Sadly, Laura appears the main hope as I don't think Watson is ever going to do anything. She just doesn't have the weight of shot. Excluding Konta from all this as I don't know anything about her.

As much as I like Laura, I want to see Kim go out on a high by winning the title. Very unlikely I know, but so was winning it in 2009.

Don't get on the wrong side of the US Open website. Their US player Christina McHale was beaten yesterday so they dubbed her "Christina McFail".

Re: US Open Day 2
Surely Dolgo has to break through sometime...
Watched the 3rd/4th set of Monaci-GL and it wasnt the best match really. Monaco should have taken it in the 4th but went tight in the 4th TB and missed a few, He always strikes me as a player who cant quite keep his form going for long patches in matches and he lacks a killer punch. GL has a nice BH and is solid, but nothing exceptional IMO...and the grueller probably means he'll go out next round.

Re: US Open Day 2
Perhaps if conditions/balls are speeded up, then we will see more of Dolgopolov's exciting, and sometimes eccentric, shotmaking for longer in a tournament.
He's just so much fun to watch - a unique talent.

The way Dolgo's FH was last night, Levine was having a very hard time keeping up. He reminds me a lot of Mecir with his 'dancing' footwork.
