So far I have really liked the tennis there have been some good matches the tipsy match and few upsets like Gulbis stepping up finally. I still maintain one of the most physically and technically gifted tennis players I have ever seen but a complete fail as a competitor. Despite the abscence of Nadal a pretty entertaining first round of men's matches.

Gulbis is certainly an enigma! Shame about Haas, would have liked to see him go deep this year as think he would cause more problems to the top guys than Gulbis will. We saw what happened to Gulbis at SW19 after beating Berdych.

Yep, good set of 1st rounders. Robson has to be the pick for us Brits though!

Terrific result for Laura R. I'd been waiting for her to have a big win like this but just didn't think it would come against Kim. Reckon her Olympic experience did her no harm at all.
The thing about Robson is that SHE HAS WEAPONS - the big serve and the booming ground strokes. As other posters have said, her movement is bound to get better as is her match experience.
It's just a pity she has such a tough match to come against Na Li.

Thoughts on Murray (which I did stay up to watch and am regretting thoroughly).

The 1st serve isn't quite there yet, if anyone has the percentage I'd like to here. He looked a bit rusty still but played 100% better than he did in the 1st round v Bogomolov Jr. Dodig didn't play badly, he just played like the World Number 118. Some of Murray's shots were excellent and he kept Dodig moving around with some powerful hitting. He does seem to be in a hurry to get past the "Little Guys" (as Pseudo Fed would call them), he needs to take it a bit slower. Still, I'm not complaining at all and on to face his whipping boy next perhaps.

I thought he served pretty well TBH Juan. 57% of first serves in, and it certainly had more pop on it than in the first round: over 80% of points won behind it. Sure we'd all like the percentage to be a bit higher but for Murray that's about par. Huge improvement on the first round match in terms of attitude (no loss of focus) and serving. Aggressive play was good too, want to see Murray being aggressive in the early rounds so he's more prepared to be so in the later rounds. Return of serve still excellent.

Could face Lopez in round 3, Murray leads their H2H 6-0 (including two wins in slams last year) and has only ever lost one set in their encounters. Shouldn't be a problem.

but the figure you are looking for is 57%, narrowly beating Dodig's 56%.

Thanks OK

The 1st serve could be worse, but it could be better Wink Seriously though, I did think it was lower than that as I only pick up when he doesn't get it in. If he can get it to about 65% then I'll be delighted.
