Your Champagne moment of the summer:

Mine would be, any time we actually got some cricket with all the darn rain.

Amla getting to the triple

KP hitting Steyn for six.

Stout moment:

England dropping Amla.

I think Tino Best reaching his 50 was something of a champagne moment.

Otherwise I think you've got to go with Amla.

Champagne moment :

Amla's triple for me. The first to do it for SA and with such quality as well.

Worst moment :

Resignation of Strauss.

I think KP smashing Steyn straight back over his head for six has to take it. Simply awesome.

So humble. clap

And after scoring that 150 in the first ODI, he said "you need a bit of luck to score that". clap

Personally my highlight/highlights have been Hashim Alma's batting.

311 at the Oval
100 at Lords
150 at the Rose Bowl
97 at Trent Bridge

He's been unreal for sometime now!

I'm glad he plays for my team!

As good as Amla has been though, and he has been extraordinarily good, I can't look past the fact that, if England could catch, he would only have passed 50 once (maybe twice) in this entire tour. That sours it somewhat for me, particularly given that they were almost all relatively simple chances.

Still, can't argue with his batting being the champagne moment, though perhaps Pietersen's 149 is the most worthy of the word, given the explosive nature in which it was unleashed, just as champagne is from the bottle.

Boycott on the Tuffers and Vaughn show; A question was asked and Boycott said "Sorry i have to watch csi" and he hung up the phone. Laugh

And Boycott meeting Alice Cooper, don't think he had a clue who he was.

Shocked Guildford - the pleasure was as much for us Surrey "3Cs" Very Happy . Maybe ought to be classified as more of a "satisfying pint" kind of moment....!

My champagne moment - at least when staring at Cricinfo - was recently when Batty took the last Middlesex wicket after prolonged last wicket partnership, so we finally won the match by 8 runs that had seemed to have slipped right away from us with a succession of lower order partnerships....

Off subject ever so slightly and without trying to sound too pro cricket section. This is one of the most sensible and straight talking sections on 606 v2. I read practically all the sections, bar the fishing {no offence intended} and although we do have the odd spat on here and get riled by the odd poster, it never leads to an all out slanging match, which on certain sections it invariably does.

Keep it going guys and hopefully we can gain some new additions to the section.

Champagne toast to you all. Bubbly

Yep, although I do think the spats have been a little more regular of late. Lets keep up the good work Bubbly

Really? Even sonic boom has been quite reasonable for the most part and made some actual contributions recently.
The abuse is rarely personal (Im not going to mention a certain individual who riled me recently mind) and almost always aimed at Ravi Bopara, so as long as he doesnt start posting here we can live in peace for the most part.

With minor exceptions the standard of debate on the cricket boards has been very good. There are some excellent posters.... Bubbly

My champagne moment has been revised today - to the moment Surrey bowled out Notts to ensure survival, after season comprising tragedy (Tom Maynard), under achievement, and controversy. Finally the team has got it together for several matches in a row....

It was great to meet up! - I've really appreciated everyone's expertise on this Board.. although at present I don't get to see nearly enough cricket for my liking... 1 day a year at Guildford (and lets be honest, with the weather in recent years... its amounted to about 1/2 to a 1/3 day's county cricket a season!)... reading all the excellent contributions.. does bring one much closer to what's going on... Agree with other comments... this board is blessed by really good, knowledgable contributors, also with a good sense of humour too!

I think Surrey's win against Middx and that last wicket probably has to be my Bubbly moment.. especially given how agonising our defeat was against Middx earlier in the season.... Who knows but imho, I think if we'd lost that match against Middx, there would have been no coming back... what made it all the more extraordinary was that dreadful 1st day... After the mauling that Durham gave us... and then the awful 1st day against Middx... to then come back and win, albeit only just! was definitely a Whisky moment!

I'm sure, Guilford bat.. that come the long dark winter evenings.. you'll be able to think back to that Peterson double hundred... when I heard about it the next day... I have to say I was gutted that we'd missed it by 1 day! but so glad you were there to appreciate it! Can't wait for next season to start... Very Happy

Chichester - lovely post.

You make an extremely good point as to how dreadfully things would have probably ended up if we had lost to Middlesex.

Btw, I believe Mike Selig has copyright on the spelling of ''Guilford'' .... Wink

Hi Guildfordbat.... apologies for my appalling typing... Is there a breach of copyright fee to pay?!! - apologies to everyone... Us Surrey fans are not trying to hijack this thread... but I'm sure many county cricket fans out there will appreciate what a difficult season it has been for the club with the off field tragedy... hence our champagne moments being a bit Surreycentric with the overwhelming sense of relief that we've managed to stay up! - I also must apologise for saying in my last post that I couldn't wait for the next season to start.. as the current season is not over and there are the crucial last fixtures for Div 2 teams in the mix for promotion... Very Happy

Mine is not on the field, but everytime I heard the "England should win this easily" line when playing against the Proteas.
