40 points!

After drawing against Man Utd 0-0 today Newcastle have reached that all important 40 points mark which normally keeps sides up but with the way the Premier Leagues going are we definitely safe? we're currently 9th but theres not many points in it between 9th and 20th place.But it looks like another win would clarify our safety in which has been a good season for us.Also in good news Sunderland are 15th and in a bit of bother

I think we're definetly safe now, and I'd like to think we collect maximum points from our remaining home games. I think we could probably collect 3 points against Blackpool away as well. So 7 points from those wouldn't be too bad, and anything extra at Anfield or Stamford Bridge would be excellent.

40 points is well safe, there are to many teams all taking points off each other, looking up the way Newcastle are only 7 points from Europe

We won't make europe but still, a top 10 finish would be amazing.

I think 40 points is enough to make you safe this year, a lot of the teams below you still have games against each other, most teams also have a game or two against some of the top teams in the league.

Beat Blackpool and we are defo safe. I'd also expect us to take points of Birmingham and West Brom, so potentially 49 points for the season.

Some seasons you'd say that even 40 points might not be enough to keep you in the league but I think we can safely say that Newcastle are staying up.
